Long story short: my "ex" & I dated last fall & he decided that since he was graduating & going to medical school this year (in the fall), he didn't want anything long-term while I wanted commitment...not to mention he said he was still in love w/ his ex but he liked me too & I was a really nice girl but he wasn't ready for a relationship...Basically, over the school year he's still been in the same college town & I've occasionally seen him, however I only spoke to him once...all the other times, he purposefully avoided me...
Last night @ 1 AM, I get a text saying "Good luck w/ everything, I'm gonna miss u..." Keep in mind, the last time I spoke to him was in February...he told me where he was going to med school & I told him congrats, that I wished him well, & that I will always have fond memories of him even though it didn't work out (because it's true, he was my first kiss). Then he replied saying that he would too, that I was a nice & beautiful girl, & that he knows I'll find a great guy & he was glad things were going well for me...
2 questions:
1) Why did he text me if he's "over" it? What was the motive behind it?
2) Do you think this is indicative of a guilty conscience or did he just randomly want to see how I was?

1. Maybe he only broke up with you 'cause he knew he still had feeling for the ex, at the same time he had college so he did not want to lead you on while he was confused. He probably liked you a lot but not exactly as a gf because of the 'ex' (his) factor.
2. He was most probably drunk when he messaged you. It could be a kind of closure for him, maybe he's guilty of what he did to you.
Whatever the case don't look too much into it and don't get back together or respond to his message. |
