What do you do if your spouse has run out of love?

Can you let the air out of only one half of a balloon? No. A guy's whole personality deflates if only one part gets leaky. Sorry. They're just made that way. Guys won't talk about it or admit it so direct confrontation rarely works, i.e., "I understand you, my husband, are feeling a little lost without our kids. I feel that way too. Maybe we can feel a little lost together and then we won't feel so lost." This usually gets a cold reception. So here you are without knowing what to do. First thing to do is to stop the leak. Guys like giving things to people to show they love them. Feeling down about kids growing up usually means there were all those things men wanted to say to their kids but couldn't because men don't talk. This is a good time to start doing that in a guy way. Convince your guy to start a diary, story, or whatever about things in his life the kids and grandkids should know about his life, times and opinions. It's a physical thing that can be given to the kids. It's surprising how easy it is to start telling great old stories to re-live love and good times (or hard times) again. It's not a literary project. It's only for the family. Guys do need to talk. This is a good way for a guy to "talk", to stop the leak, and get pumped up again. Make sure you ask every day if you can read his stories. If he doesn't like to write, he can record it and you could type it for him. Who knows, it might become a shared project. Good luck.

Try to accept it. Am going through the same thing, only my husband has told me so. My children are young, 4yr and 1 yr old. We are together almost 9 yrs and only married for 1. Hurts like hell I know. Everyone keeps telling me to stay strong and that I will get through it. Not sure if I believe it but I suppose ill say the same to you. Stay strong, and I hope you get through it. x

Love is like riding a bike, you never for get how to but you sure look silly trying to remember how. You two had one type of love when it was just the two of you, children changed all of that. Going back to just the two of you seems impossible. The house seems empty and he must be asking "now what the heck are we supposed to do." He has to remember the meaning of Love with just the two of you means. You can help him along the way. Try not to laugh when he wobbles down the road with a silly safety helmet on. LOL.
