What do you do when your husband doesn't listen to you when you ask him to do things?

But, to answer your question....try being more specific. "Hey, honey...would you please vacuum, (hand him the vacuum) while I sweep the kitchen?" *followed by a soft little kiss* "Thanks so much! I don't know what I'd do without you!" Asking him to help you clean the house is way too general. He needs specific jobs, and he needs to be told what to do at the time it needs to be done. None of this, "after work, I need you to sweep the porch" kind of thing.

you need to train him :) so many women are afraid to get their husbands to do work because they're afraid they'll sound like a nag. well you'll sound like a nag if you sound like a nag. If you say please and be sweet about it, they'll do it. and be specific, don't just say clean the house because most men don't know how and wouldn't know where to start. if you husband didn't clean as a child, there is no way he knows what to do (it may seem like common sense to you, but men are afraid to do chores because they don't wanna screw up and make you upset).

if he's watching tv and you tell him to do something, he didn't hear you because he's watching tv. when it's a commercial, catch his attention and tell him what you need done. if he says after the game, then wait after the game..when it's after the game and he's still sitting there and you asked him to do the dishes, grab the sponge and give to him, smile and say "the game is done".

it's called training...the women who don't do this end up with lazy husbands and doing housework all on their own

Wish I knew too, been asking my husband for some help for 22 years and I'm still waiting.
I think husbands can be a lot like bees. You've either married a worker bee or you've married the queen and no matter how much you ask, beg, nag, etc you can never turn the queen into a worker.

He does other things that help. Does he mow the lawn?? Does he fix stuff around the house?? Does he go to work every day?? Does he tell you he loves you and does he show it??
