What happens when a guy gives up his rights to his child?

i know this girl who is telling her baby daddy to give up his rights to there kid because he says he cant afford to pay child support so she wants all rights to her kid and told him that once he gives up his rights the state cant go after him is that true? or is it a trick for her to have all rights and he cant see the kid and he steel has to pay child support?

I can't say it's a trick, because I can't assume that the girl definitely knows. However, the last part is correct: he can't see or make any decisions regarding his child, and the mother can still apply for child support payments.

He won't have any rights to the child. He's not the father after that- just another stranger on the street. No he does not have to pay child support- he also has no right to see the child either.

Depends on how he goes about terminating his rights, with the right professional help he can terminate his rights and be exempt from her going after him later for child support. This is why it's always a good idea to have a lawyer or other professional assist drawing up paperwork. However, if this guy wants to be a part of his child's life, he has other options than having to fear a money-grubbing woman, whatever his decision he should speak with an attorney.

If he gives up his rights, he cannot be pursued for support, but a judge is very likely not going to allow him to relinquish his rights for the sole purpose of not paying support.

well u best hope not to have a baby with this man or he will disown them do to not having a job or enough money. anyway i don't know if this is true or a trick but it is pretty sad and i hope he thinks about it and wears protection next time

You need to learn to write in English, with capital letters and adequate puntuation.

The judge is unlikely to allow this guy to give up rights to his child simply to get out of cs. The whole point of cs is to be sure the child is supported even if the parent is reluctant, or a complete j@ck@ss, like this.

You should also try to find a better class of friend.
