What is acceptable behavior when you travel for a living?

How much time is appropriate for my husband to spend out at a bar with co-workers watching a game or having drinks while he is on the road for business. During a typical week on the road he is out every night for dinner with clients but then a few times a week could be out til midnight or 1am. He will text me the enitre time so I don't think he is cheating but one time he did text me to tell me he met some girl that I knew in college.? I was irritated because it created a mental picture of what he was doing. I also have a hard time with the double standard that goes on because when I have traveled he is jealous and needy. Can anyone offer some advice for approaching this topic and am I off base? Thanks

if you're having doubts and bad feelings it's probably b/c it's something going on. every time i'v ignored those feelings in the past (woman's intuition it's called) it's come back to bite me big time

Unless you've given him reason to be suspicious of your activities, his jealousy is HIS issue, and there's not a thing you're going to be able to do about it.

As for his behavior, however much he goes out is between the two of you and not for anyone on Yahoo answers to dictate. Why don't you sit down together and express your concerns in logical, not emotional, terms.

Explain to him that late night drinking leads to questionable situations, so he should keep it to a minimum...but also beware that jobs which require travel, also require a lot of after-hours socialization if he's going to stay competitive in the workplace.

if your husbands job requires him to entertain clients while he is gone then dinner and such is understandable. I don't think that he should be at a bar until closing time for three nights a week while he is gone but being on the road is probably lonely. If you are positive that he is not cheating on you though then I guess there really is not any harm in what he is doing. How are you spending your time while he is away? Are you visiting friends and family?Do you enjoy activities so that you are not at home going crazy and becoming super lonely yourself? If not then I suggest that you do.If you were going to a bar three nights a week how would he react? If he would not be ok with you doing it then maybe that's the approach you should take when speaking to him about it.

When he's home with you, are the two of you out every night and sometimes until 1am? If no, then why does he behave this way while away from you, and how sharp is he for the job the next day.

I think it's too much. Tell him it upsets you, a see if he changes. He should.
