What is really a "happy" marriage?

Is it feeling "happy and excited" all the time? Or is it something a bit more boring and steady than that? I'd like to think I feel "butterflies and sparks" with a future husband (I'm 26 and single), but is that an unrealistic expectation? What are the REALITIES of a GOOD marriage? I want to approach dating and choosing a partner with the right expectations.

A "happy" marriage is one in which both husband and wife love and respect each other, want the best for each other, know how to compromise, how to give, and how to be committed even when they aren't having those "cloud 9" feelings.
A happy marriage is one in which you are just as happy to be laying around watching his (or her) favorite show even though you aren't crazy about it....because you know it makes them happy. |

I feel content, romantic, sometimes butterflies, sometimes deep in lust, it isn't one feeling all the time.

Marriage is kinda of like a gang you have to get "beat" into it. All joking aside you have to be 100% realistic. Start with an amazing foundation of a solid long term relationship with someone that you can get along with on a daily basis. Once you get serious move in with one another and really "discover" what life is like living together on a day to day basis.
Personally I can't imagine my life without being married to my wife and having my daughter around me daily it's apart of who I am. Would I ever get married again? Probably not. |

A happy marriage to me is when the two accept and respect each other and love each other regardless of their background. That includes race, height, weight, age, weaknesses,etc. A marriage will not be happy 100% of the time because couples will have their differences. That's where they learn to work together as a team. |
