I just got married a few days ago and i was wondering if what i want to do is possible. I called the local court and asked them what i'd have to do to legally change my name to my new married name; they said i need a form of identification and a certified copy of my marriage certificate. What i want to do is change my middle name to a new one, not my maiden, not my actual middle name but something totally new. So basically i want my First name to be the same, i'm going to take my husband's last name and i want a new middle name. Is that possible? If so, do i have to pay a fee? How long does it take?

Go to the city county building and ask for the forms to get your name changed. It won't be a court preceeding for your married name but it will be for your middle name. You still have to take the marriage certificate, birth certificate and driver's license with you. You might as well get them all changed at once. |

The same thing. My wife actually had her maiden name added to her middle name. I don't fully understand it but oh well. Peace and God bless. |

If I remember correctly you need to fill out a change of name form for the social security office. Just put any changes that you need on the form. |

then you need to do a full change of name form at the social security office. not sure what the fee is, if any. call and ask. then you can go to the courthouse and change your name to what you chose. |

DMV and social security will change your last and middle names with just a copy of your marriage certificate. |

You go to the social security office first take your marriage certificate. Then they should give you a receipt saying you changed it then you can go get your drivers license, etc. done. Your new social card will come in the mail. And I'm not sure about completely changing your middle name... I just kept mine. |
