if it was ongoing then that pretty much means that there are some extra feelings there and there would be no second chance. a one night stand is a huge mistake but if they tell you about it and beg forgiveness then i would give them one more chance but never again.
this has happened to me and forgave him and it has never happened again nor does he choose to go out without me anymore (which is up to him ). it hurts no matter what and it takes time to work through it! sorry |

i wouldnt stay with my spouse no matter if it was a one time thing or an on going one. |

No chances at all. I am not the forgiving kind when it comes to hubby's messing around. If they can get away with it they will do it again and again. |

Personally, I think both are awful. Would I give a second chance? Nope. |

Any cheating = I'm gone! |

It is worse if it is ongoing affair. Either way it would not be acceptable. |

He'd be gone either way. I do not tolerate cheating. An on-going affair would be worse, but neither one is acceptable. |

i think an affair is worse...they had an actual relationship where they saw eachother more than once and spent time together and put some thought into it.....definitely worse. I wouldn't give him a chance if he did either, but the affair is worse. |

i wouldnt stay with them either way but its more hurtful if it's an ongoing affair because they are emotionally attached and that would make me feel a lot worse than just a one night stand. |

One time things can be forgiven because everyone makes mistakes. Ongoing affairs mean that the person was not completely happy with you and that they planned to get from this person something that you weren't able to while still stringing you along just in case the affair goes wrong. It's selfish and that person abviously doesn't really care about your feelings if they can look at you everyday with innocent eyes, knowing that they might drop you at any moment. |

Why except either>trust gone> Cheated> giving a pass>If he give you>HIV or STD would that make a difference>Kick him to the curb>If your felling bad>As you will never forget>> |

Cheating is the same no matter how it's done. And I would never lower myself to that standard of living with anyone for any reason. |

Both things are really awful.
I would say that an affair is worse, because it is emotional cheating as well as physical cheating. That hurts even worse. The physical cheating is bad enough. Thinking about him being physical with another woman makes me want to vomit, but imagining him saying loving and tender things to another woman makes me homicidal. |

Once a cheater always a cheater! I believe it, but gonna be honest, I try to forgive and try to work on the relationship; Think an on going affair to be worse.. one night stands there is no connection and i'd prefer for him to be honest and tell me...2nd chance, NO 3rd |

Either way I would say See Ya!!! |

They are both bad, but the on-going affair is worse. The spouse has deceived, lied, cheated and betrayed you again and again. Just once and you can say they were weak, but more than once and it is definitely premeditated. |

It wouldn't matter---as soon as I found out about either, he'd be gone....because the TRUST would be. |

On going is worse because of the ongoing lying. But I would not tolerate either. How do you ever trust that person again. I wouldn't be able to stand the pressure of worring about the lies. |

I won't grade cheating on a scale of better or worse because in either scenario, it would be over. |

id say the ongoing affair, even though either is unacceptable. |

I would prefer a one night stand... and yes I would give him a second chance.. if it was an ongoing affair than feelings would be involved and then all respect would be lost for your mate... everybody screws up, so I could understand the one night stand... |

an affair would be worse, but i wouldnt stay with someone that cheated on me at all, at least i'd like to think i wouldn't |

On going affair is worse, but both are deal breakers. |

either one gets her a free boot 2 the curb.
real men/real women don't cheat...no poll necessary. |

I think both would be pretty bad. A one night stand would prove that your signifigant other has poor judgement, acts on impulse, and can't be trusted in risky situations. But an on-going affair would prove that they have no regard for your feelings, are able to hide large secrets from you, and they are the kind of person who wants to have their cake and eat it too. I think personally, a one night stand would be a little bit more hurtful, but easier to forgive. While it came out of left field, and wouldn't be easy to hear about...the fact would also stand that my boyfriend probably wasn't plotting against me, and it was a spur of the moment decision. |
