me and this girl have been dating for 2 months, we both like each other very much and spend most of our waking moments ether together or talking on the phone or texting so when sound i get her a promise ring and, what should it look like?

the whole purpose of a promise ring is that your promising to marry her. so when you feel like you can make that promise ( and keep it, and work at it) then that would be a good time. ask her what kind of rings she likes ie: round diamonds, square, and if she wants white gold, gold, or silver |

you need to wait for a while... I don't think you need to be giving her a promise ring right now. that is just saying that you are plaining on marrying her and you guys only been dateing each other for 2 months.. its not the right time.. |

Most promise rings are the same thing as a engagement ring. Also some people think they actually end the relationship. Everyone I know that has ever given or received a promise ring they ended up breaking up soon after. Just wait until your ready to get married and then propose. |

Promise rings don't mean you're promising to marry them. they could simply mean that you are promising to be faithful or even saying I love you. I personally have not gotten my girlfriend one, because we've only been dating 7 months. My brothers, however, have gotten them for their girlfriends usually around their one year anniversary, and one of my brothers is going on his 5th year with his girlfriend, and the other is marrying his girlfriend (now fiance) in June. So you can give it for different reasons. |

I think that you should truly love someone and care for that person to make a promise and wear the ring as a dily reminder of it and the commitment. 6 months is probably the right time, but I mean if something comes up, and yeah people have broken up but clearly it was never meant to be in the first place if they broke up. But not everyone is the same. Just because something happens to one couple doesn't mean it is going to happen to the next. Just work on it, but don't rush it. |
