When will I get married? Does love exist?

I am 18 and never had a boyfriend..ever. Say what you want, but I've always pictured myself getting married at an early age to an older man that is faithfull, respects me, non judgemental, and could talk to for hours about anything, and most importantly love me. My family keeps telling me that there is no such thing as love and no man is ever faithful. Which is giving me a terrible image about life and love. I always wanted to get married before I was 21 and settle down(no kids). But I feel like I'm just losing hope. I don't think men find me attractive, nor do I think I'm attractive because I've never had a boyfriend. Nor do I think I am worthy of love or feel loved. So in summary I guess now that I think of it I guess I want to get married so early because I want a man to give me all the things I didn't get at home. But over the years I've become emotionally numb and fear this will get in the way of me being able to sat I love someone. I've never been told I've been loved and if I did. I didn't know how to respond.

So when will I ever get married?

I never grew up with my father. Besides I like older men because they seem like they have it together and been there done that, are attractive, and the thought of that makes me feel safe. I know not all men are mature even the older ones.

lady you're only 18. imagine marrying at that age and being with that one person for the next 50 - 60 odd years. all the best on that one. lol

not a decision i'll rush into and i'm 32 and single. enjoy life, get an education and travel. you'll be amazed at what's out there :D

Your parents aren't setting a good example for you. There are faithfull people. You should not settle for someone that you don't trust or who does not respect you. Don't listen to people that are encouraging you to make bad choices.

Don't set a timeline for getting married, go with the flow, being in a hurry may only mean heartache in the future. When you get married is not as important as who you will marry and how you will have a relationship with that person, rushing things can only make you wish later in life that you took your time and explored. If you want a certain man, look for that certain man, not just anyone that comes along and hope to change him, it won't happen. When the time is right and the person is right you will know, find a mutual love, not a one sided one.

I think maybe at the heart of the problem is your lacking love for yourself and that's where I think you need to start. Begin working on loving yourself...because if you really think about it, how can someone love you the way you need to be loved if you don't even have love for yourself. You ARE so worthy of love and I hope you are able to find a way to believe in that. It seems you are lacking support from close family/friends, so maybe you can find someone else trusted to speak to or even get help. Once you learn to start with self love, only then will you be able to open up to the love of others. Best wishes to you.....

What you dream of doesn't always fit in reality. You are 18 and very young. Quit trying so hard, relax, and be yourself. There is such thing as love.

star, it sounds like you have some self esteem issues. If I were you, I'd go get some counseling first and then you'll know what is what in life.

There's a reason you want an older man. Do you look up to your dd or what? Do you urn for his love so bad, you think an older man is the only one who can love?

Thats wrong your family tells you that. If they havent experienced it that doesnt mean it doesnt exist. My parents have been married for 25 yrs and still madly in love and are both faithful. Youre still real young, so i wouldnt push it cause you dont wanna end up with mr wrong. Youll find it!! Dont wry
