I took my husband's last name legally and socially, but for work purposes (I'm an author and have books and articles published regularly and give speeches on occasion), I kept my maiden name without a hyphen. |
|

I took his.. I'm just old fashioned like that! and i also think it's a sign of respect- not saying those that didn't don't respect your hubby! It's just my thoughts! |

I took my husband's lastname and dropped my maide name all together. I didn't want my maiden name as my middle name, the way I see it...if anything happens (God forbid!) to us, I'll just change it back if it's that big of a deal. |

I took his last name, i liked it better and it rymed with my first name. |

Although I didn't like his last name, I took it anyway. The main reason is we have a daughter and I thought it would have been rude to hyphenate her name too... then when she got married would it have been hyphenated again?
Example: Crystal Barnes-Morse-Ash
That would just be too much. I want my child to have the same last name as me until she gets married. It gets too weird when they have different names and trying to get doctors and Schools to understand that you have a different last name but are still their birth mother. |

I took his last name. I had no problem doing that and I look at it as honoring him. Since my father is the only male in his family, if he wouldnt have had my brother, i might have thought about it differently so I can continue on my daddy's name.... but yes, i did take my husband's name. |

Yes I took my husband's last name |

Woof!!!

I have been married twice, the first time I hyphenated it, the second I took his last name. In time I realized the only reason I didn't take his last name was cause I knew it wouldn't work out....I feel I was wrong for marrying him to begin with... and delayed mailing in the m.l. till I decided what I wanted my last name to be. |

hyphenated names drive me crazy.....too much to say.
to me it tries too hard to sound important.

Too full of pride to take his name and drop yours? Feel the need to keep your individuality? The person that married you did include the phrase, "the two are now one" or something like that in your vows? Most don't say "the two are now 1.5" |

i would prefer keeping my name but thats just me. |
