My TV finally took a crap after 10 years and I need to buy a new one today,

I'm not looking to spend too much....1000 max. and size up to 37 inches....it has to fit in the armoire in the living room.

I could go with a 40 or 42 inch if I could talk wifey out of the armoire idea....I've seen some nice panasonics yesterday at sears for under 1000 and 40''

We saw the bottom of the barrel brands....Vizio and Dynex under 500 but are those a peice of crap?

I don't want to buy a new tv 1 year later...I hear those brands break pretty fast.
