In a marriage, is it the man's parents or woman's that are more then likely to be the interfering inlaws? Also, does it make a difference if one or the other has a disability or is an only child?

I don't know what's typical, but my husband's family is nosier and far more intrusive than mine. In fact, one of the reasons we moved 1,500 miles away from them was to make it easier for them to butt out!
The difference could be that my husband is a very private person, so perhaps they feel as though they have to put forth much more effort just to see how he's doing. I, on the other hand, share a lot of my life with my parents and we are very close. Still, my folks may have their opinions, but they respect our right to make our own choices and do not become involved unless the situation is critical or unless we ask them to. |

Don't think it's a side at all. Moms from either side are the most protective whether you are a son or daughter. It's just Instinct - women are so much better at this - we can't help ourselves. Dads on the other hand just want their son out on his own and out of their house. Ya know - the macho thing. Man take care of his woman - kids go away eventually. Ugh! How archaic! All meant in fun! Who really knows??? |

Both sets of in-laws may interfere at different times & on different levels. Yes, I think that it does make a difference if the child has a disability or is an only child cuz parents tend to be protective & because this is their baby, they beleive nobody can take care of them( the child) like they(the parents) can. |

My husband is the only son and the youngest so his parents by far more than mine. I think it is usually the husbands parents(especially the mom) because women can't seem to let their little boys grow up and they certainly don't think any woman could take care of their son better than they can. |
