Why am I responsible for my husband's child support from the past?

What you're saying here is that you married someone who is so irresponsible that he isn't keeping up with his child support payments. I don't feel sorry for you. Of all the men in the world, you picked one who doesn't even support his children financially.

If you are filing a joint return, attached with his social, you have to file as an "Injured Spouse" in order for you to receive your share of the money. Then only his portion will be intercepted.

As a husband and wife you have shared responsibilities in bills, present and past. That is part of the package when you married him. What you didn't do is protect yourself from that by not knowing more about him or his past. That was up to you.

when you file your taxes file an injured spouse form it will give you back everything you payed in including any earned income credit you have coming. or file married but filing separate then rile an amended form along with the injured spouse form. I have done this 2 years in a row and gotten back everything plus eic.

Unfortunately, when you marry a man who has children and he is not up to date but arrears in his child support. You become responsible for this debt. However there is a form you can fill out to obtain your monies back. Call or contact the IRS via the internet or call them. "Injured Spouse form" A dear friend of mine just filed one and received her money back.... Good luck.

Women screw men out of child support all the time. You just happen to be feeling the wrath of one of your scorned fellow mothers.

If the child support rules/laws were fair then women wouldn't get ahead. They'd have to take responsiblity for the children they claim "the man" has to take responsibiltiy for.

Why do I have to pay child support for children that live with me 50% of the time? Welcome to the other side of the story.

You and your husband are a team now! I hope, with the help of the Lord, you can work things out and get some money. If only he'd have kept his pants on, then you wouldn't have to deal with these problems. Do they have names and ages? Hobbies? Seek the Lord and he will surely help.

You can't change anything or do anything different. You married him for the good, bad and the ugly. I can understand that you may have needed that $600 but its a whole new year If you love this man get over it move on. There is much more to be upset about in life. Keep the children happy as they are the future to get us out of all this mess anyway. It takes the present and future to correct the past misgivings of a man.

u should have filed your taxes separate from him, and next Time file injured spouse. your not responsible but if u filed with him they will take from it.

Did you file a joint return? If so there is nothing you can do about that, and this is what happens when you combine bank accounts and assets.
