Why cant husbands tell the difference between...?

As a fully certified husband, I must alert you to the fact that while husbands do not, as you have outlined in your question, differentiate between hand towels, dusting cloths, and rags, they do, in fact, differentiate between wiping their hands on their clothing and the items you describe here. Is it better we wipe our hands on the doily covering the table in the foyer, or wipe our hands on the front of our shirts...or worse yet, the dog?

Also, a husband will wash the car with anything nearby, so if you are sending your wedding dress out to be boxed and stored, make sure your hubby does not see it on the way out side to wax his car.

Bathroom kitchen towels do look suspiciously like bathroom towels, so I am easily confused there.I sense your frustration, but as a husband, I can be of no real help. I hope my wife does not read this.

What difference does it make? It's a towel; there is something that needs to be dried; it can do the job.
You probably have those "guest towels" in your bathroom that no one can use, too, right?
Once it goes through the laundry, your towel will be ready for its original designated purpose. No harm, no fowl.

Honestly, I would have to say that you are worrying about the wrong thing. Is he a good man? Try focusing on that a little more. Being annoyed with the little things gives you plenty of time to miss the good things. I wonder what you have missed chasing after this petty towel thing. No lecture, just advice. I hope you see it as advice. When my wife stopped looking at the fact that I folded the towels differently then she did, she actually noticed that I was doing and folding laundry, doing my daughter's hair, reading stories, feeding the kids, helping to clean the house, doing the bath-time routine, and so on and so forth.

I still fold the towels my way and braid my daughter's hair backwards according to her and now it's something she smiles about.

Some of us can, but is not the point of any towel to dry something off with it? (With the exception to the dust rags)

They're guys .... and it's really not a life altering thing. To them, a towel is a towel ... who cares what the purpose is. all in all, they essentially do the same thing, whether it's for dusting, cleaning, or any other purpose. And if/when you have kids, trust me, a towel is towel, and the guest towels won't be just for the guests.
