Why do grown-ups think two kids can't last forever?

I find it very irritating that alot of grown-ups think that two kids that are in love can't last forever just because they're young. I'm 14 years old and my BF is 15. We love eachother and we've together for 2 yrs. We've been talking about our future alot...and how alot of people have been doubting us saying we can't make it. So, I just want to know....does anybody know a couple thats been together since they were teenagers? that r still together now?....

Chances are it won't last, but it can definitely be done. Please keep in mind that if it doesn't work out, you still have plenty of time to find someone else to fall deeply in love with. Whatever you do, don't rush into marriage, though - the failure rate for marriages, when you marry before the age of 20 are verrrrrrrry high. Not worth the risk.

I know of one couple that started dating at age 15 and are still together.

Okay i'm only 6yrs older than you so please don't think i'm trying to be a snotty adult when I say any of this. But its not so much the age that I think makes people doubt your love, but your situation. I mean come on what the hardest hurdle the two of you had to overcome, what colors to wear to the school dance? You both probably live at home, don't have jobs, parents pay for everything, mom cooks your dinner and washes you clothes etc. Its so easy to feel like your in love when you don't have any responsibilities, but its quite another thing to be the ones cooking, cleaning, paying bills etc. and in a relationship trying to make it work. To answer your question, I've only been out of high school for 3 years so some of the couples I know are still together but if freshmen year was any indication about 99% broke up within the first semester and those who are still together are on the verge of breaking up. Change doesn't have to be a bad thing.

I won't be rude. I understand how you feel. Personally, I don't know any couples that have been together since teenagers, but I know some do exist.

The reason grown-ups think kids won't last is we've been there ourselves and seen others go through it. People change as they grow and mature. Usually couples lose that perfect compatibility because they change at different rates and in different directions. Once in awhile, they do manage to still be right for each other after getting through all those changes. If you're lucky, you two will be one of those lucky few.

Statistic is a science like mathematics to foresee events in the future based on the past events.
In case of teen marriages statistics indicate that only one per hundred last 10 years. Not a very good chance to be together.

My grandparents married when he was 16 and she was 15- and they were together for over seventy years.
