Why do married women with no children expect and want gifts from their husbands for mothers day?

My husband used to get me gifts before my child was born because everyone we knew had children and I was sad I didn't. He got me flowers and said you are a Mom to your Pets. I just thought it was sweet. I never asked for gifts or expected it. Some women may not can have children or they are a Mother to other people's kids. Not every one is fortunate enough to have kids. I am blessed I do now.

so to earn some points for when she's 8 1/2 months prego. she'll remember how much he really loves her.

Yeah that is weird! I am a woman and even if I got married if I wasnt pregnant or didnt have any children yet I would not expect it nor really want a gift. Unless it was a joke hinting that maybe it is time to start having kids.
I have never heard of any woman who doesnt have kids expect a gift from their husband. There is something seriously wrong with your friends' wives if that is true.

So to correct you, NORMAL women do not want or expect a mothers day gift if they do not have kids. I would expect the man to get his mother a gift and the woman to get her mother a gift.

My husband and I went through a really rough miscarriage, and he has told me he'll be getting me something for mother's day. He knows I will most likely be feeling down that day, and he wants to remind me that I will eventually be a mom someday, and that we'll keep trying. That's just us. Other couples may be experiencing something similar like that. If not, it just seems selfish and greedy, in my opinion. No one should ever expect gifts, they should be given out of the kindness in someone's heart.

If they don't have children then they aren't mothers so I don't have a clue why someone would give them a mothers day gift...it is kind of strange, but if they have children then the husband gives her a gift to honor her as the mother of his children.

Strange. I have never heard of that. I been with my fiance for 5 years and we plan to get married within 2 years, but no kids until like 4 years for now and she has never once ever mentioned a gift for mothers day until she is actually a mother lol. I think those other women might be looking for an excuse to get a gift. That's my explanation. I have never heard of that though. Very strange.

Why would you give someone something on mothers day if they have no kids. That's what mothers day is for women that mothers. That does not make sense and I think that your friends wives are just spoiled and want the gifts without having to deal with the pain of having children. Brats!

I do have to say that not ALL married women w/ no children want this.

They may think that they will be mothers someday, so they may want something.

On a lighter note, they may feel like they are their husbands mother, taking care of them and keeping them out of trouble! HA. just kidding....
