Why do my friends act like my parents sometimes?

We're all 24 at this point. I just recently lost my virginity within the past few weeks. But when the topic came up that I felt ready to do it, both my best friend and boyfriend gave me a lecture on how I'm not ready for it. My best friend is thinking of joining a sorority that I had had an interest in while I was doing undergrad. I expressed my interest, and she gives me this shpiel about how I'm just not ready yet. It seems like any step I take that's a little out of the norm draws gasps and shock, and if I ask for any advice, I either get "well you're not ready," "I've done it and you shouldn't," or "you're only doing it because I said so." That last one is a big one with my boyfriend. He also expressed concern that I don't argue (what is there to argue about?) and seems to think that I push myself into things I'm not ready for. But if nothing is wrong, why complain?
Why are they like this? I've already told my bf it's not that I'm scared to speak up for myself. There's really just nothing to say!!! No complaints! I'm happy! Why does he look for drama where there is none? Is it something I'm doing wrong?

No you have not done anything wrong your guy really cares about you and just wants to make sure its not something you are jumping into, he gienuily wants to know if your ready he is saying if you are not that it is okay with him and he will wait for you, *by asking you all these ?'s or turning in on you* sighs guys do this its sweet you just have to take a minute and think about it cause he has he knows if he takes you theres no going back and he doesnt want you to regret it.... he doesnt want to hurt you *or didnt want to hurt you so he was triple and double checking

Honey they don't have anything better to do with their time, you only get one life enjoy it. i'm not saying go out and sleep with everyone but if your not compatible in that area then you wont be happy listen tell your bf to mind their own and enjoy your life you have to do your own thing and thats how you learn your likes and dislikes |

Next time you're all together ask them why they say these things, and after they've voiced their concerns you tell them to keep their advice to themselves, that you're an adult and make your own decisions.
It does seem like they see you as not very smart or something along those lines. |
