They truly think they can do anything as long as its confessed- it's people using the church as a scapegoat and refusing to take responsibility for their actions |

Because they misunderstand the meaning of the word "repent." The word in the original Greek means: "think differently; change your mind, regretting your sins and changing your conduct." Most people who attend churches which preach repentance, seem to forget the part that says, "changing your conduct." |

I see alot of that too, I think people don't understand there is forgiveness and there are consequences from your actions...many sin and know the Lord will forgive their sins for we are only human...and yes we are back in the good grace of God, but that doesn't mean there will be no consequences for our actions...the closer you walk with the Lord the happier you will be in life, continue to do bad things, it doesn't matter were you run, your still going to pay for your actions one way or the other...I choose to do good, it eliminates the stress and drama from my life and that is a blessing in disguise. To continue to do bad over and over...just makes your life all that more difficult because the more bad you do the further you have distanced your walk with the Lord. |

Because people are lead to believe that they can wash away any mistakes they make by going to church. People need to take responsibility for their action. I've done bad before, things I'm not proud of, but I think about it and make better choices now. I didn't need to go to a church and ask for forgiveness. |

Everyone commits sins along the way and everyone likes the idea of forgiveness, but most people are smart enough to know that forgiveness doesn't come from a priest or a prayer; while others are content to believe that it does. |

Trying to justify the actions and be forgiven for it...Phonies. Its like I call my best friend a convenient Christian because she is a Christian when it suits her but then she does **** that is totally a no no per Christians. I dislike fakers with a passion. Do it and stand behind the fact that you did it rather if it was wrong or right DAMNIT!!!! |

good question i've always wondered that too. there are unforgivable sins, how does that work with the church? |

Because they are told that when they confess, their sins are absolved, like a clean slate. This is why I think Catholicism is a scam. |

conscience nags them. They are in the right as long as they did not KNOWINGLY commit the offense.
If they purposely did wrong KNOWING they would be forgiven then they need to pick up there bible 'cause that is NOT the way it works. |

Probably because they do feel bad and have a need to feel close to God and seek forgiveness. The reason they probably do it again is because they don't try and change. Or they don't really acknowledge what they did wrong was really wrong or feel like it's something they can control. They probably run to church to get rid of the guilt they feel at the present. There could be so many reasons. Remember, people aren't perfect. We all have our flaws and we do the best we can. |

First off, they do bad things because they feel that they are not worthy to have good things in their lives. Some suffer from a lack of self esteem, self worth, and self confidence.
Religion is another issue. Looking back at why we have church is a good place to start. going back in history, the church was put together to control the population from civil war and civil disagreements. Giving the people an alternative and sending out vague messages as to what kind of life they will have after they are gone from earth was also a good scare tactic too.
When we do bad things, we often feel a sense of guilt. The church thrives on this and it thrives on persuading people that they are sinners and filled with guilt already, so that they will repent their sins... even though many are not sinners to begin with. |

I think that it helps them get over the guilt of whatever they did. Its wrong...to me its a false hope. You did then your guilty. You have to face yourself and undo whatever it is that you done. |

Some times guilt, most times fear. They fear punishment and might think sth bad will happen to them in return. So they ask for forgiveness, to get away with it |

Because God gives us the ability to ask for forgiveness. Now if you keep doing the same thing over and over again then you have a problem and God will save you in the end... |
