Why do some people feel that they should be living off the taxpayer citizens?

I just see some postings about how they are having good lives getting family credit and working like barely the minimum. Must be nice not contributing but getting all the time and the cheque for nothing.

Hi Holly, I am not well off, and never have been, and there are a lot of things that I cannot afford and don't have time for, things that I have seen people having and doing being on government assistance. I am not talking about the sick, talking about those who rather take advantage than take the initiative.

I agree 100% with you. I work for an OB/GYN and you wouldn't believe all the loser people who come in here, without jobs( or the bare minimum), on Medicaid and trying to get the doctor to take them off work because they are pregnant. My doctor tells each and every one of them that pregnancy IS NOT a disability (unless medically necessary). They also come in here lying about having pelvic pain, DUB, etc. just because they want a surgery (state pays, so you and I pay) so they can go off work (after an expensive ultrasound is ordered it proves theres nothing wrong with them except laziness). It is unbelievable!

I love it when they come into the office with their hair "done", perfect manicured nails, fancy cell phones, etc....GIVE ME A BREAK! I say everyone needs to pull their own weight. Unemployment, welfare, etc, is there for people who TRULY need it.

Last time I looked there's litter EVERYWHERE. If you get FREE money, you should have to get off your butt and clean up your community.

you go ALLISON-i totally agree with you on this-they should make them do public service work-before they get anything--then probably some of them would get off of their as*s and get a job -and we would not have to support so many deadbeats

I completely agree that there are many out there abusing the system. But I also know that are too many people out there judging others unfarily because they don't know the whole story. It seems that the users have given everyone a bad name.

Sometimes it's hard to know the whole story. It's like judging a book by it's cover, or judging people based on previous experience. It just isn't fair. Some people may have worked in the past and payed the same taxes that the rest of us do. Or they have family members (parents, etc) that have payed those same taxes. My father (now dead) had a family member years ago that was receiving government assistance for a while and he said "I'm glad someone I know is getting to take advantage of the taxes I have paid". That was a good attitude.

So as much as you are correct about some people, be careful how you judge others.
