Why do wife's complain about leaving the seat up?

Because when you come into the bathroom in the middle of the night and expect the seat to be down and it isn't... guess what? You fall in!! And no I never put the seat up for the man because for the most part his aim isn't that good whether the seat is up or down anyway!

I personally have gotten up in the middle of the night without turning any lights on and sat down on a cold toilet because the seat was left up. Not the most pleasant experience. It could be argued that I should have looked before sitting, but hey, my eyes were barely open.

I really don't see why men can't aim through the toilet seat opening anyway. It's not like the stream is 10 inches wide or anything. Can't you hold on to it and watch what you are doing?

I never put my seat up for my husband, but I never minded if he left the seat up, because he never complains about me not leaving the seat up for him. Why should I complain about him leaving the seat up? but when we go to hotels he leaves the seat down for me lol! cuz he knows I'm a germaphobe and don't like touching public toilet seat, so he does it for me :D.

I don't see the point for complaining about your husband leaving the seat up, because whenever you go out to the public washroom, for women's washroom, the janitors clean the bathroom sometimes they forgot to put the seat down, do you go complain to the janitor for not leaving the seat down? no! so stop b**ching about your man leaving the toilet seat up. It's only a quick flip to flip it down it's not that hard.

Because it's disgusting if we go to sit on it in the middle of the night and we fall into the bowl. YUCK! I bet if you were the next person to use the bathroom, the seat is up and you fell in, you wouldn't forget it ever again.

Becuase we can fall in and becuase when you walk in the bathroom and the seat is up the whole bathroom looks dirty, it just looks neat when its down.

It would make no difference if we left the seat up or down for you guys because how the heck do we know if you need to "sit" or "stand"??? You guys know right off the bat we need to sit...so why not have the common courtesy to leave the seat down for us?? Any girls agree with me?? :)

well, see, both women AND men sit on the toilet--unless you poop standing up. also, if you are drunk and stumble into the bathroom to sit down, you will fall in if the seat is up because drunk people never remember to check the seat. So it's always safe to just put it down.

Wives complain about it for the above reasons. What it really comes down to is that they don't want to take responsibility for their actions and for not looking to see what the position of the seat is? When was the last time you forgot to look? She never looks. That is the point. She will never look so give up and put the seat down. You won't win. You can't win even though you are correct.

Thats kinda funny, I never thought of it like that. Maybe I should tell my girl to leave the seat up. But it doesnt really matter for me cause sometimes Im lazy and I'll just try to aim through the seat and if I miss- oh well- atleast the seat is down.

They want you to extend them that courtesy. It's also a test regarding your ability to change. It's petty, but does show that you can change your habits.

Nope. I've never went to the bathroom to a raised seat. I can aim, but I like to raise the seat as insurance. They say that if they go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, they don't want to fall in the toilet. They're supposedly too disoriented to check and see if the seat is up or down. However, we must make sure the seat is down for them, and make sure the seat is up for us. We have to do double the work.

Just kidding. I particularly don't care, but I don't like the one-sided complaining that is associated with it.
Besides, if she happened to fall in, my wife doesn't have to worry about sitting in anything, because I keep the toilet and the entire bathroom clean.

Because, if we need to use the bathroom in the middle of the night we may not turn the light on and just sit down and if the seat is up, well you know whats going to happen. I know men can sit or stand depending on what their doing but women always sit down. Its just a considerate thing to do. Putting the seat down is just one of those little things in life that can make a big difference. Do yourself a favor and just do it. Like they say, if momma isn't happy nobody is happy. Good luck
