Why do women like to nag?

Why do women like to nag?

why do women nag? please.... show some mercy on us men

M Theory
We don't "like" to nag, it's just the way we're trained.

We tell a boyfriend/husband/significant other something and he forgets/doesn't do it/wasn't listening. After that has happened 5,759,889 times we learn to say things over and over to get the message through.

We also learn to say, "Are you listening?", "Did you hear what I said?", and "Don't forget...".

It's conditioning-like Pavlov and the dogs.

If you ever listened in the first place, we wouldn't have to.

Because we FEEL like you are not LISTENING.

We nag because we FEEL like we are not IMPORTANT.

And we nag because we have a word quota per day and if that quota is not met, by evening you get our NAG even more!

When a woman asks something of a man and he did what she asked then there would be no need to repeat herself... problem solved.

Listen and show us that you care

Nina
Well hun, if you'd take care of what we asked and didn't wait until we've asked for the millionth time, we would give you a break!

Now, can you do the dishes? :)

It's because men don't do what they're suppose to do without being asked. Then, we ask and they still don't listen. So, we have no choice but to nag!

We don't like to nag either, but that's all you men seem to listen too.

It isn't just woman who nag believe me.

I know some men who could talk at you till your ears burn. It drives ya nuts. Tune them out is the only way to handle it without fighting.

You had to know you'd piss off all the ladies with this one. But, some women don't do this because they have men that support them and don't feel the need. Do with that information what you will-Good Luck.

If husbands would do what we ask the first time we wouldn't have to keep on nagging them to get whatever we ask them to do to get it done lol.

Most men are like small children. That is why. Do what your mom said to do in the first place...take out the trash, put your clothes away, pick up your crap. Mow the lawn. Help take care of the in and out daily living stuff and no one gets hurt (OR NAGGED AT!)

It's just me

Men like women to nag. If they didn't, they would do what we asked them to do in the first place. We are just doing YOU a favor. =D

Not all of them do!

But the reason is the different communications styles of men and women, which do not apply to every single man or woman, but are pretty true across the genders.

Watch a bunch of women talking. You will see lots of head nodding, smiles and looking into eyes. You will hear tons of "uh huh," "Oh, yes!" and other verbal indications that the listener understands. (Note, understands, not necessarily agrees!)

So when a woman talks with a man, she doesn't usually get many of these signals, and feels--or even thinks--that he doesn't hear her on a level that matters! So she repeats until she gets them, which is often never. If she does get a nod or an okay, he's saying, "I'll solve the problem." but she's thinking he understands, so when he solves it without understanding, they have the conversation again. Nagging.

So, the woman says, "I wish I didn't have to wash the floor so often." She MEANS a whole lot of things, such as "I want you to understand that I'm tired." "Sympathize with me." "Maybe you should wash the floor sometimes, it would make me feel loved and honored." and "Stop dropping your damned jelly on the floor every morning!" Her girlfriends would hear ALL of those things, but her husband hears "I wish I didn't have to wash the floor so often."

The male style of communication is so much more straight-forward and clear! (Not necessarily better, though! WE are communicating emotion and intent and stuff with our words, but most women don't realize that men have a different method of doing that, and we may as well be speaking a different language!)

Anyway, it would be great if your woman learned more about the way you listen, but even if she doesn't there are things you can do to understand her better.

Ask questions. "Do you want me to wash the floor, or are you trying to get me to understand how you are feeling?" "What can I do to help?" (If she states a problem, the number one thing you need to remember is that she may not be asking you to solve it, but to understand how she is feeling! If your buddy says his frazzistat is broken, he's asking for a solution!)

I think it could be boiled down to "Women want to be connected to and understood by their partners." "Men want to be admired and adored by their partners, and shown that in bed." <g> That's a huge oversimplification, but if you want her to adore you, you're going to have to do some talking, so that you can understand her. THEN she'll stop nagging!

But if you've got one that says things like, "If you loved me you'd know!" or "If you don't know, I'm not going to tell you!" then, buddy, I don't know what you can do.

***EDIT***

By the way, when you change her oil, she does NOT know that means "I love you." You have to tell her that you changed her oil because you love her, and because that's the best way you know how to show it. It may not be what she *wants*, but the words will make it a sign she can't ignore. When she feels better, you'll feel better. And she may well thank you in a way that you definitely understand! <s> Not for the oil change, for the love.
