It's easier for them to let it down than it is for us to lift it up so I don't worry about it. |

i have ALWAYS put the seat down. i am a male and i think it should go down when you have finished to stop splashing. it doesn't matter how you touch it, i am going to be washing my hands after with antibacterial pump soap anyway so it might as well go down before washing than after. if i am in a public loo, i use my foot to lift up and down |

If you got up in the middle of the night and without paying attention sat down on the toilet and you ended up falling in, then you would care too. |

2 reasons: the 1st is a hygene issue. when you flush, you need to have the lid as well as the seat down. all those germs just circulate the bathroom if you don't!
the 2nd is a courtesy thing. i don't like the seat left up as i find it off-putting. i'd prefer it if a man in my life loved & respected me enough to consider that & to act accordingly. by the same token, i wouldn't pick my nose in front of him. diane. |

it doesn't usually matter to me, but if i get up in the middle of the night, and am 1/2 asleep, i don't really like falling inside the toilet. |

Have you ever seen a picture of a toilet that has its lid up? The lid is supposed to be down, why cant you guys sit down and pee? haha |

I don't get it! I guess it's polite to put it back down so your girl doesn't have to touch it... but they *hopefully* wash their hands after anyway, right? but still, I don't get it, I certainly don't care about it. |

I don't care about the seat. It doesn't take a genius to look before you sit.
But the paper on the other hand is what i get pi$$y about. I hate it when my man puts it on backwards. But hey, atleast he puts it on. |

It doesn't matter to me, It is much much worse when men don't lift the lid then sprinkle all over the seat! |

Because some people will complain about anything. If they can't find anything to complain about they will invent it. Not a big deal in the scheme of things.
Personally, I look before I sit. I flush the waterloo thoroughly when I'm done and I disinfect the seat. |

I always leave the toilet seat up because I put it up when I flush the toilet down so that wheni flush it down water wont get into the toilet seat...so yes not all women like the seat down...in fact i get mad if people leave the seat down...because it gets dirtier down than up... |

I have absolutely no idea. It doesn't matter to me at all, and I cannot for the life of me see why it should be down rather than up. I mean, i'm not the world's most handy person around the house, but even i can manage to put a toilet seat down. |

I don't mind it that much except when you got to the loo in the night and sit on the cold porcelin, horrible |

How hard is it to put the toilet seat down, geeze? |

Because it is a seat and seats are meant to be sat on, not left up. It looks harsh and cold and crude if it is left up.
Also, women don't face it. I have fallen down the damn thing before.
Men face it - so why don't they just put it down.
And actually, your attitude towards the women in your life, by using the term "whining" is very offensive.
If it bothers you so much to touch the seat, go and invent something that lifts and lowers the seat without using your hands! |

I am probably the only female that thinks this but I don't think they should have to put it down. I think of it this way. A guy could go to the toilet and then put the toilet seat down. But he may be the one to use it again and would therefore have to put it back up again. If he had left it up it would have been up already. I think that each gender should just leave it as is after they have used the toilet. I don't think it is fair that the guy always has to lift and put down. But I must admit that the toilet does look better with the seat down. And on a TV show they discovered that many germs get thrown into the air when the toilet flushes and it is actually best to have the toilet cover down to stop that, which would mean that the seat would have to be down anyway. But, fair is fair, and I can see your point. I think that the logic behind it is similar to the opening car doors for ladies and pulling out their seat for them at restaurants. |

Seemingly inconsequential things can show whether someone respects you or not. But it's not fair that he has to put it down for her, but she doesn't leave it up for him. I'd say, both leave it as your partner would like to find it, and the problem will disappear. |

It's so gross. I don't want to touch it to put it back down. Every time you flush, the water sprays up with all of the germs and poo and other stuff. That gets on the seat, and then we have to touch it to put it back down. |

In my home there are 2 females and one male. If it were the other way around and I had a son instead of a daughter. I wouldn't say anything. Because it would be 2 against 1. |
