Why does he keep coming back?

You need to make sure your supervisor knows about this as the situation could escalate into a noisy confrontation that could result in the loss of your job.

The guy broke up with you. Why would you even consider getting reinvolved with him? Apparently you are flattered that he keeps coming by to see you and you are holding out hope that you will get back together. You need to tell him once and for all that it's over and stop sending him mixed signals by talking to him. Having conversations with him and asking him are indications that you are still emotionally involved with him. He is probably pursuing other women (probably unsuccessfully), but wants to make sure you are still available. It also sounds like he is playing head games with you.

You are giving him all the power. You need to move on and find someone else. You can do much better than hooking up with this loser.

He is playing games with you and unfortunately you have no one but yourself to blame because you continue to subject yourself to the behavior. Why not build some self esteem and move on with your life? Otherwise you are a mental case who subconsciously enjoys the behavior.

Ignore him and stop letting him see that his actions are bothering you. If you want no contact then I do not see why you would ask him how he is and if he wanted to talk.

God makes those choices. God has plans too! Seek Him first and He will give you your desires.

where you work is a public place and he has a right as a consumer to shop there. Just be professional and ring up his purchases and wish him a nice day with no personal chit chat.

Are there other places nearby where he could shop? Do you live in a small town and this is the only store conveniently located for his needs? Or maybe he's been shopping at that same store his entire life and isn't about to change just for you? He has the right to continue shopping there just as you have the right to continue working there. Don't react. Simply treat him like any other customer.
