Why does my ex wife use the kids to try to get more money out of me?

Some are just plain evil...but not all...I think she must just be really pissed at you...

Edit: I agree with Katy..stop giving her money. She can pay to fix her own car like everyone else.

Tell her the child support is what the state determined you need to give her for the kids support and she'll have to take care of herself. I'm amazed when women or men think they deserve a free ride.

Well not ALL women are like that! But I know where you are coming from.

My husbands ex ALWAYS calls us and asks for more money even after receiving monthly child support. He just says NO!

If the kids need something, you buy it for THEM! You don't give her any extra money, you don't BUY HER anything.

You just simply tell her NO!

As long as you continue to give in and give out more money, she will soon empty your wallet.

JUST SAY NO!!!

I'm in the same situation where I'm divorced but still paying my 1/2 of the rent of the apartment I used to live in, but definitely to make sure my twin sons don't go homeless until the lease ends.

Regarding food, medical, furniture, clothing, automobile, gas and other unexpected expenses, it's basically for the kids, but maybe the way she's asking your for additional support may sound like she's using them as leverage pawns in the divorce, but truthfully not.

I thought she was just trying to build up additional funds for having "fun", searching for a new beau or just plain going out with friends, but when it came time to file the divorce papers, everything fell into place on the financial worksheet showing "additional" monthly payments, and the requests for money definitely showed up on her side of the fence, in writing.

If your divorce ended up with some anger and division, maybe she's still frustrated and angry with you for some reason, and the parent with full legal custody is responsible for most of the physical and financial care of the children and that's when most of the things happen when she reaches out to you for financial assistance.

Just be civil, and even though it may be grating or irritating when she seems to use the kids as pawns, she really does not mean anything personal towards you. It's for the kids and their welfare. Hope this helps!

Not all women are parasitic. Unfortunately you got stuck with one. Quit giving her $$ and tell her if she needs more she should get a job. You sound like a wonderful, stand-up dad. Good for you and especially your kids.

I understan where your coming from I pay child support and I rearrange my schedule to take them to school and pick them up, spend additional when they with me. And they go to church with me every week. But yet i never do enough . I raised my step daughter from 5mths she 19 in college she never ask or harrassed her dad for nothing. Im doing and harrassed for more money or try to make it seem like im sorry cause i dont give her what she wants. I try to help my son who now a senior she dont want me to spend the money to help him cause she say it takes food off her table she should get the money. 18 yrs of marriage i took care of everybody she only worked 4 yrs i put her back to school and now she makes more than me she gets paid bi-weekly me only once a week but yet call me for more before im even paid again as if i have no bills. I agonize with you.
