Why is gay marriage being pushed on every state? Can't the government accept that some states don't want it?

I believe that everyone who love each other and wants to spend there lives together should be able to as a married couple gay or straight, I can understand why it is moving to each state...

And in what way is the government pushing it on the states? None that I'm aware of, at least.

I don't know why every state isn't pushing it themselves. It really is none of any one's business who someone marries. And besides, you tell me, how is a gay marriage hurting your marriage? I absolutely love those commercials that claim that gay marriages will hurt the average american's marriage. BULL BUTTER!

Why can't you except that there are individuals who live an alternative lifestyle in every state. They pay taxes just like you do and want the same rights that you have.

Well, when they were choosing the method of government there was serious, serious misgivings about democracy as a form of government (it gives free license to mob rule. Might makes right, not much better than where they just were). So they chose a) a mixed democracy, and b) put rules in place requiring that the minority rights had to be protected lest they were simply steamrolled.

This is one issue in which 'government' is a lumbering ox of a moron, motivated by religion and politics.

It's a matter of human rights and not the Bible. The bible has caused more deaths and turmoil then all the gays ever born collectively.

You say some states don't want it...but someone in every state wants it and there is always someone who doesn't. I don't agree with it but all we can do is vote nae or yea when the time comes.

I live in CA, and Obama called Prop 8. Divisive, of course it's divisive! We have the largest gay community in the country and he doesn't realize the full implications of gay marriage in CA.
