my wedding cost $70. $50 for the marriage license and $20 for the justice of the peace to do the "ceremony". No big expensive wedding needed here.

â™¦ Weddings are not for everyone. Some people are perfectly happy just being in a loving relationship, without the marriage. Others want a marriage, but don't want the big 'production'.. others seem to have a need for the production.. It's a personal preference, and in my opinion a person is entitled have things the way they want... there is no wrong way or right way. If your happy, your happy.

Everybody has got their own opinion on everything and just because you don't agree, doesn't make the whole thing stupid or wrong, neither is your opinion. You do what makes you happy and that is that. Some people believe in marriage, or having big weddings, other people don't. Like I said, just because there are many others out there that like something that you don't like or approve of, doesn't make it wrong, stupid. To others, maybe having a wedding and have their family and friends celebrate that love with them is a proclamation of saying "We are both ready to commit to each other and make each other a promise that we'll be there" to other people they don't need to make that kind of proclamation. Tis the beauty of having your own brain, you get to decide what makes you happy!!!

Some people, actually most people want to get married. Some people actually do love their partner so much that they want that committment, and want to proclaim that love in front of family and friends. I think those who are scared of marriage are scrared of commitment. I wouldn't want to be with somebody who never wanted to marry.

If i went into business with someone, I'd want a contract. "this is my official partner, and we agree to _____". I want that with a man, too. I want to be his official partner. boyfriend/girlfriend implies youre temporary.

Also, it's a celebration of the two of you having found each other. I never cared about marriage until I met the man Im dating now. I want to marry HIM. Because I want to celebrate how amazing it is that we found each other and because I want to be his official life partner

There's no law that says you have to have a wedding in order to get married. If you want, you can wear jeans and a t-shirt to the justice of the peace, and handle the whole thing for whatever the processing fee is, usually $25-$50.

Here's to you!! You have to do what makes you happy. I was so freaked to get married, I did it and now I want out. Divorces cost more than a damn marriage license. I'd much rather just have a committed relationship than a marriage, at this point in time I just want to be alone w/ no relationship. I think it's more of a personal preference these days, I know many a women that don't want to get married.

Well then don't get married. But when you live with your man for 50 years and he is terminally ill, and you KNOW he wouldn't want to be kept on life support, and other family members want him kept alive, guess who is going to win that particular battle? It sure ain't gonna be you, since you have NO RIGHTS WHATSOEVER. If he dies without a will, guess who gets everything? Not you! It will ALL go to his next of kin. If you own a house together, his share will go to his next of kin, and if he is the sole owner of it, guess what? You are out on the streets! So go ahead and don't get married because you think it's all an ordeal. You haven't seen an ordeal till you try to fight the legal system for stuff that would automatically be yours for the cost of a $50 marriage license.

It's what some people want, and some not so much. It's not stupid to want to get married. It's also not stupid to not want to get married, it's just a matter of what you want out of life.
Most people who get married want to have the ultimate commitment with each other. They want to vow to each other they will always be there for one another. Do some people go over board on the wedding day costs. Sure, but that is what THEY want.

As far as a lavish wedding, to each their own. As far as the "ring on the finger" just a symbol. As far as the "marriage". It is a commitment between 2 people that says they will hold each other above all others.

I wouldn't be with a man who wouldn't marry me. I don't agree with big, silly weddings though. The money could be spent on a down payment for a home or new furniture.

Well I guess it is almost every girl dream to feel like the prettiest girl in the world and all eyes on her and and the end is waiting her prince....I did not have a big wedding but I did make sure I got a dress and one more thing that is extremely important to me is pictures......I did not want just some court house pictures to show my kids on how there mommy daddy got married I want them to think it is a very special day....cause I think you should only get married once so cherish that day just like when your baby's come into this world!!!!!

We spent like $2000 on our wedding, total.

My dress was "last seasons" style, so it only cost me $99.

We didn't have a huge ordeal -- the bulk of the price was paying for the food for our guests. We said our vows and exchanged rings.

It was important to me to be married because I want that everlasting bond with someone. I want to know that if there is any legal trouble, hospital issues, death, etc -- that he and I have legal rights.

If you don't want to get married, don't. It's a personal choice.
