Why would a woman want to keep a diamond ring ?

I had an affair with this wonderful woman for a year and a half. I got the old line that her husband abused her verbally, emotionally, and ignored her "needs". During that time we fell in love and were making plans to be together. Her friend and father laid a huge guilt trip on her and suddenly it was over. Broke my heart. I had bought her a very expensive diamond ring. I know according to the law it is considered a gift , but if she doesn't want me then why would she keep the ring? I used to think that if she kept it she would look at it and remember what we once had. Hopefully remember all the good memories and come back. Your thoughts please.

It's a DIAMOND ring dude! First thing is, women are strangely attracted to diamond (don't ask me why). And also the ring being very expensive isn't helping either.

She might think you don't want it back. Believe or not, some guys want the lady to keep the ring. She might be sentimental or like diamonds.

Well I guess you know by now the mistakes you made, the biggest one being the plans you made to be together. Of course now you realize that she really never planned on leaving her husband. However....if he in fact is abusive, chances are he hasn't changed. And maybe she is keeping the ring for sentimental reasons. She might look at it, remembering your times together, and the ring could be a symbol of what kind of life she could have had with you.

It's hard to say, though, exactly why she's keeping the ring. I hope she doesn't pawn it; you never get exactly what it's worth.

I think part of the problem was that she didn't make that decision on her own, somebody else made it for her. They also probably told her to keep the ring.

you need to check that law..... the ring was given as a promise.... a contract and she broke the contract... so legally the ring is your not hers.....

I hope you learned a lesson. Never give such an expensive diamond ring until you are sure the person is gonna stay. Start nice, but not expensive. Then work your way up as the relationship progress's. Sorry for your lose.
