In late February, I discovered my wife of nearly 17+ years (in the relationship for 24 years), secretly opened the lines of communication with her first boyfriend. It started off with an email, which led to phone and text messages. All in all, in February they exchanged 40+ cell phone calls, and about 90 text messages. When discovered, she was confronted and promised to cease all communication. An email was written to him the next day prior to a 17 minute call about the incoming email. In mid-March, at her arrangement, they met because she "needed closure" and she later composed and emotional email stating how difficult it was to not see him. Again, I confronted her. She lied about the meeting...and lied about the email. More promises were made to cease communication. Once again, she arranged a meeting with him in mid-April. This meeting was made so she could "get some questions answered." The met, drove off together in his car, returned back to his apartment in which she stayed for about 30 minutes. She left and returned home in time to meet me at 11PM. She wants to work on the marriage, but I have to think she will make future arrangements with him. Thoughts from the community.

her promises mean nothing because her actions show she doesn't want to end it. closure is just for persons wanting a different outcome. personally if my husband did this to me i would have to assume that there was more here than meets the eye. its also very disrespectful of a spouse to do. she doesn't need closure she is just making up excuses to see him again, probably because she is still in love with him. and he is a willing participant in all this so he's probably interested in her. personally i would end the marriage because of all the lies and the cover ups. |

It's over , if she lied to you about it once she will do it again. Take it from one who's been there...you will never trust her again. |

Even if she weren't doing these things...which she is definitely wrong in doing, especially behind your back...the fact that you don't trust her after 17 years is probably enough to end the relationship.
She definitely should not have been talking to an ex without you knowing. Something is definitely up if she's racking up over 40 calls not to mention all the texts and secret meetings.
You need to talk to her. Tell her to be completely honest. Although, to me it sounds like your relationship is over. If not over, then you both definitely have a LOT of work to do. |

She's most likely cheating on you... but don't jump on her straight on it could be a total misunderstanding... just try to stay calm and make her feel so she isn't trapped :) |
