I have an emergency restraining order. I went out of town for a few days. I just found out that the next day after the restraining order was issued he came by my house. Will the police care? Should I report it?

Absolutely, he violated a restraining order. Why did you ask for one, unless you intended to use it to keep him away from you? Not only will the police care, but the judge who issued the order will care as well. Once, he see's that this is being taken seriously by the legal system (violating the order), maybe he'll care more about keeping himself free, rather than what your doing. |

YES! Not to scare you but do look up n read stats on the subject of restraining orders and all....every violation of that restraining order, no matter how small, must be reported. It sends a message to your e that breaking it will not be tolerated, and it logs in the cop records that he is prone to breaking it. I urge you to report it at once. |

If you weren't home, then maybe the restraining order doesn't apply?
If it does apply, you should report it.

The police can't do anything this long after it happened. They need to be notified when it happens. They can't do anything if they don't catch him in the act, or at least have witnesses to the event immediately afterwards. You have waited too long. |
