Working mothers- do you feel guilty?
Find answers to your legal question.

Working mothers- do you feel guilty?

Im feeling rather guilty today.

My daughter has been very unwell these past few weeks, resulting in me having a few days off work to take her to the doctors, and look after her....

I feel guilty for having time off.........its kinda like your dammed if you do and dammed if you don't!

I know its my job to look after my children, but I still have a responsibility to my employer.

I don't have any family who can help out as they live over 2 hours away, so I have no support system.

Do other mothers have this overwhelming sense of guilt? I feel very emotional today.

I think most mothers have some sort of guilt it kinda goes with the territory.
BTW I am a work from home mom and yes I still have guilt.
You have to remember all the good things you are doing as a mother and stop being so hard on yourself. We can only do the best we can do with what we are handed.

As long as you have an excuse ,screw them!

Feeling of guilt is somewhat normal..but if you have to work you work..I have done both, worked inside and outside of the home..taken time off from work to care for my children..don't allow guilt to overtake you..you are a parent..

I feel for you and have been in the same boat, but prefer working to other alternatives...i want to show my children that they can work and manage a family and not have to rely on the government or anyone to assist. I am not saying anything is wrong with that, to each his own...but I would rather have an honest paycheck because I can go out and work. I am sure your employer understands and would want you taking care of your child instead of being there worried about whether or not she is okay and your daughter will remember the times you were there for her when she was ill and not some stranger.

I always knew that I would have to work to provide for my children and therefore never felt guilty about working. I would have felt worse raising them in misery. It's not always easy and I know that I had a schedule that enabled me to spend as much time with them as possible. Their father saw them at times as little as possible and made sure not to take them for holidays so that I would have to pay for day camps. I think that daycare offers a child a much better life than being at home with a parent.

No, I never felt guilty over time off of work to look after personal matters. I always had enough accrued leave to be able to do this. Also, employees have rights to sick leave and personal days which are consistent with the number of days worked annually. I was a good employee, doing more than my fair share and never had any work related guilt.
