how do I get my wife to be more proactive?

It sounds to me like maybe you just need to talk to her face to face and tell her. " I don't ask for very much from you, and this will make me very happy." Explain to her that you are not in any way making her cook because she is the female and that's the females role. Just simply say, I love you and cook for you every other day of the week, cant you manage one day for me?"

Well, you said she does not like to cook.. Maybe consider taking cooking classes together at a local college.. or watch the Food Network channel which shows the actual cooking process taking place.. Cooking can be fun once she knows how to cook.. and is even better when you both can cook together in the kitchen.. Hope this helps...Good luck.

Its a little weird that she is so lazy, is she happy?
You cant make her do anything, have you talked to her? Honestly she is a woman therefore she should cook & clean.

After I read this, I wanted to tell you that I'm a girl & still I don't like to cook. Since small age, I haven't cooked any dish. I've even spoke to my spouse about this & he said he'll do that for me. I said him that it's better if we have a cook & as he understands me so well & cares me more than parents, he don't wish to force me into anything which I don't wish. May be your wife doesn't like cooking. I think she doesn't know how to reveal that to you. Better ask her openly in nice way funnily. She may come out with the reason. Later, decide upon that what to do. Either you or your wife or a cook!!! All the best:-)

I don't know how you two have split up the household chores, but is there anything that you dislike doing that she doesn't mind doing herself: vacuuming, laundry, cleaning the bathroom, etc?

Perhaps you can work out a trade with her.

Also, when you do cook, prepare extra portions to have a left overs to give yourself a break. It that doesn't work, then (for a while) cook something she hates on her day off! Maybe she'll get tired of that and decide to make the meal herself or ensure that you two go out to dinner on that day.

thats a very fair request maybe she doesnt know how to cook very well maybe she rather BBQ ? Or maybe she doesnt feel appreciated by you when she does, Do you complain about her cooking ?

i bet you are a slob and doesn't help around the home! Make a deal that who ever cooks first washes the dishes. she works and brings money home to feed your lazy fat azz so help you freakin complianer!
