101st Airbone Division Cav Scout? Help please?

Well it has been my lifelong dream to be part of air assault of the 101st airborne division. The one thing i was really wondering was if infantry was the main backbone behind this division. I really like the idea of being a cav scout but i mean could i do that while in the 101st?And what else could i do while being in this division besides your basic infantry? Thanks

To answer your question, yes. You can be a cav scout in the 101st. All divisions are getting Strykers and have cav elements now under the ongoing reorganization of Divisions into Brigade Combat Teams (BCTs).

Aviation and Light Infantry are the backbone to the 101st Airborne Division. The 101st has the most helicopters (twice as many as the other Army divisions) of any division in our military.

Any job you can think of will probably be available in the 101st. Like any other division, it has 25,000+ Soldiers with jobs ranging from cook to infantryman to medic to vehicle maintenance to crew chief.

82nd, 101st, 173rd, 25th....all those light infantry units are arranged into Brigade Combat Teams (BCTs) that are a little different than the mechanized/armored divisions.

each division (yes i know the 173rd isnt a division) has 4 BCTs. each BCT has:
HHC (headquarters including RSTA-recon/survailence unit, its what evolved from LRS)
BSB (support)
BSTB (MPs, engineers, all those jobs)
1 cavalry (dont knwo the term, same as a battalian)
2 infantry battalians
1 aviation (again dont know the term)
1 artillery battalian

so yes you can be a cav scout in the 101st. during an actual war you would roll around in uparmored humvees or the new MRAPs, since light infantry units dont have bradleys and waht not.
in the current situation, infantry and cav scouts have adopted half of each others jobs. they both roll around in vehicles unless you are air assaulting in or its walking disantance and they both do dismounted operations.
whether you go 11b or 19d, you'll do the same thing in iraq/afghan. hope that helps.

Infantry, Armor and Cav will all get you to the Screaming Eagles.

But if you really want to ensure things, set your regimental affiliation to 502nd, 506th or 327th Infantry.
