hi! im a guy of 20 years old, i left school about 5 years ago ever since then i have been in a 3 year relationship which has broken down i dont really know any mates where i live and i work with my family in a job i hate (for the money) .needless to say i dont really get on with my family but my job is a skill and im not qualified in anything else unfortunatly!
i have been with a girl who is 10 years older than me with 2 kids (not mine) for 6 months and i am very unhappy with things :(
the only thing that gives me happiness is on the night when i go to see my girlfreind who i get on with well and love and feel like she is all i have, but the rest of the time i am misrable with my home life, work and my social life which i cant seem to improve, i have been looking at the raf as a whole new start new job really good social life etc
to do this i would have to leave my current life behind and my girl who i really like , i know its probably alot to read but i just needed to get this out and i need help from people who arnt my family( my dad is my boss so he doesnt like it when i suggest raf etc)
i also dont feel like ive had time to be young and have a good time like going on lads hols and nights out in other towns etc

Don't listen to Rosetta... he/she seems to be a ignorant super liberal who is very biased. People like that do not like the military... but the military is something that is needed for the prosperity of a country.
I will give you the God's honest truth about the military. I joined 6 years ago because I wanted a way to pay for college. There are a couple things I hate about the military.. 1) they have the right to deploy you whenever and wherever they want. 2) seemingly endless briefings/meetings about who knows what. well.. i guess thats all of the negatives I can think of.
The military is a wonderful place to start your career as long as you pick a career in the military that can translate into the ''real world'' such as air traffic control...civil engineer (like myself)... medical.. ect. The pay is also pretty good for someone without a degree.
With that being said, I can't recommend one way or another to you because that is YOUR choice. Do not let any strangers dictate your future. I love the fact that I joined the military. WIthout it, I would never be in the situation I am in today. I am about to exit the military after 6 years and start a flight school business.
Whatever you decide.. good luck. ( oh and you better love this girl like crazy if you put up with two of her kids!!!! ) |

Don't do it, man.
Joining the military is as close to selling your soul as you can get.
To give up your rights and discretion, for the use of your government to kill whoever it doesn't fancy is a waste of everything you have.
If you want a new start, try volunteering for a foreign aid group. Try to go to poverty or disease stricken countries in Central America or Africa. |
