I am interested in pursuing a career in intelligence in either service but want to know which one I might have the better chance at. My dream is to serve 4-6 years and transition to the CIA, DIA, NSA, or serve my 20 years as an Intel Officer. Also, which of these two services is the better fit in terms of preparing me for a possible career with a government Intel agency?

How about as a reserve with Navy Intel? Any advice on how to make myself more attracitve to them? What if I score high on the AFQT or OAR?

a Sub 3.5 GPA in a Non Technical major is not going to help. the fact that you are 30 is a point against you. so unless you actually have EXPERIENCE in the field, your chances are very low for either Branch.
The Navy Intel and IWO communities are fairly small. LOTS of competition. |

I have yet to figure out the career path from jump boots and BDU's, to the CIA, defense intel or natinalk security. Go to Law School if you want...but you could get in the PENTAGON today. That's a start. At thirty years old and doing OCS,
Be a Pentagon Historian. They have lots of classified files there. Dig up an old JFK or LBJ file and watch your career fly...Good Luck. |
