9 US helicopters had been shot down by Iraqi resistance in only one month .What does that mean?

I want your opinion from military and political point of view. And will this developement accelerate the USA withdrawel from Iraq?

What it means is the Iraqis aren't going to back down. It means that Bush's strategy to "Stay the Course" (oh wait--we NEVER were Stay the Course) isn't working and it never has.

It means that insurgents are specifically targeting helicopters. For about the last 15 years American military choppers have been a coveted prize for the bad guys. Being a chopper pilot or part of the crew is a dangerous job in urban warfare situations because there are so many places for the enemy to hide with rpg's.

P.s..I'm a former Air Force Blackhawk crew chief/aerial gunner and a veteran of Bosnia and Kosovo.

First, the only "Iraqi Resistance" is the free people of Iraq fighting against those the useful idiots in the Western Media call "insurgents". The "resistance" is composed of Iraqi civilians turning the bomb-makers in or killing them themselves.

So, no "resistance force" is shooting down helos.

On the other hand, the Iranian, Saudi, Syrian, and Code Pink (and other dhimmi traitors) funded TERRORISTS who want to establish a Caliphate with aspirations of global genocide against ANYONE who is not "their brand" of extremist Islam did shoot down a few choppers. To the left, that means you too (actually, I think the jihadists would kill you first as you represent everything they see wrong with the West).

The genocidal jihadists are using better weapons (stamped 'Made in Iran') and tactics. We have already responded and many TERRORISTS have died. We have thousands of fight hours and sorties every day. It is still safer to fly in Iraq than drive in Detroit.

And considering I just took a round trip in a UH-60 these last few days, I consider that a good thing.

And the USA will withdrawl when we are victorious and the Iraqi PEOPLE and their elected government can stand on their own. Or we will be forced to withdrawl when the dhimmi Democrats in Congress surrender to our enemies....again.

It's not Iraqi resistance. They are Sunni terrorists and insurgents.

They aren't resisting anything but the democratically elected government of Iraq.

Of all the helicopters flying, we have lost 9 in a month. This is tragic, but still pretty good since I probably see over 50 flights a day just in my area of Baghdad.

It means the Insurgents are slow learners when dealing with aircraft. The war has been going on what... 4 years? If it takes them 4 years to adapt to aircraft and be able to shoot em down, that is sad but it was bound to happen. The US just needs to adapt to this threat and change tactics.

It means that the insurgents are focusing on helicopters more because they now have more sophisticated weapons that they are getting from Iran and Syria. Plus it makes big headlines in the U.S. thanks to the left wing controlled media in this country who want to negatively influence popular opinion against the war.

It means terrorists are armed by someone we know but we can do nothing to stop them! We may need to trained Iraq forces as quickly as possible since Democrats will pull our troops out sooner or later! The only thing I'm afraid of is that after we withdraw, they will plan other attacks not on Iraq but here!

Out of how many flying?

The answer is: "Headlines for the US Press, good news and encouragement to opposition groups in both the US AND Iraq, major investigations/paperwork/headaches for US commanders, dead Americans/funerals, and little else."

Makes me think we should have bombed the place flat to begin with.

Militarily, It means the Iraqi INSURGENTS have improved their aim and tactics...

Politically, it means that we have to fight the whining losers who claim the loss of LESS than 10 helicopters lost is a "tragedy".

When I was flying in the early 80's... we understood that in a Naval war, we would have a 25% loss rate. TRAINING was a minimum 3-5% loss rate.

I think we should keep plowing forward.

It means that the Earth's gravity still works.

FRAGINAL-NOYPI
US involvement in Iraq must already be stopped and let the Iraqis have their own government to protect their resources particularly oil.

It means the US is taking more risks or the opposition is getting better weapons.

It appears that the insurgents have figured out a weakness or weak point in the USA's aerial methods.

Politically, it just illustrates that there is still chaos in Iraq and hatred for America is alive and thriving.

That they are starting to get more ammo... and two they finally caught on to our tactics... so its time to change them up, on thing i know the military did was start having the air force fly in materials instead of driving convoys so many convoys... so that is one way the military has gotten smarter! Both sides are adapting to each other, whoever adapts better will eventually succeed...! man I can't wait till this war is over!

What does that mean?

you would have to listen to your French friends... a few years ago.
