A Civil War in America? Again?

Many things that the civil war was fought over like state's rights have never been resolved. and if i remember correctly representatives from vermont, mississippi, and south carolina met in a conference in january to discuss succession. do u think its time that left americans go one way and right americans go the other? also if a civil war was to break out, do u think the south would win this time? most of the armed forces' soldiers r southern, the south actually has armories in it now, they have many forts full of gold, and a lot more ppl that stand together for what they believe in than we do in the north. a lot of factors that help in winning wars.

and for all u ppl that think the civil war was just fought over slavery, that shows how ignorant and simple minded u r. go and do some research on the civil war. hell im from boston and i know that the civil war wasnt just fought over slavery.

I sure hope that we don't have another civil war.
But there is always a chance of it happening.
This is why we need to elect someone who truely
cares about all American citizens.And doesn't have ties
to another country.Like Sen. Obama does.

lets you know where his heart is.If this proposal becomes
a bill it will bind us to sending billions of our tax dollars
to third world countries.It doesn't matter what the state of
America is in we would have to give up our tax dollars to another country.This proposal showed me who Obama really cares about.He shouldn't put a proposal like this with people loosing jobs,housing crisis,etc. we need our tax dollars to be spent here in America.Our roads and schools need repairs.

Lol at this. Of course they won't. Yes they have money, but no, they don't have enough power. If they were to break out, the majority of Americans are in other states, and would take them out of power and put in ones representing their ideals. The South is a part of America and this isn't the first or last time this has happened.

Well the "south" might win now, if by south you mean bible belt and states like West Virginia. So I guess south would become more like the middle.

Many people advocate state rights vs. federal law. Its true, but I honestly don't think the people have the will power to push the issue to the war level. They're just not fired up about it.

However, if the people for states right did win, then we would have a huge problem because pretty soon New York would try to kick Kentucky's butt and this would lead to states becoming their own countries, eventually dissolving the United States all together.

The main reason for the civil war was slavery which if no longer fought over and currently the states are gaining power over the government (devolution) with the current Supreme Court. A civil war would probably be over separate issues between different regions...we're in no condition for a civil war seeing that our troops are currently in the Middle East.

I don't see it happening again, and you are leaving out one very important factor, the catalyst of the Civil war was slavery.
