well,
1. my experience for the most part has been good. I came in only wanting to get some motivation for my life and college money. I have accomplished that so now I can get out of the army and have my entire college paid for. Your not gonna find an easier job than the army...but Either your gonna love the army or hate it. theres usually not much in between.
2. My job is an 88M/Truck driver. it's alright...

1) What was it like? Horrible - I was legally kidnapped and forced to serve against my will (drafted) for 20 months. I got out early with shrapnel in my skull.
2) Job? Combat Engineer....mostly hated it, but blowing stuff up was OK - beat being in the infantry.
3) New people? Yeah, some good some bad...no "friends for life" or any of that crap. Most guys I met smoked weed or heroin, or drank like fish to escape the horror pit we were in....Yes, I am still angry about it.....
Things to share? - The draft was immoral, the Vietnam War was illegal and based on a bunch of lies (sorta like the invasion of Iraq).
The US intervened in what was essentially a civil war where we had not place and in reality no real vested interest except throwing our weight around (sorta like the invasion of Iraq).
The Vietnam war was a colossal waste of human life - thousands more died than would have if we have never invaded (sorta like the invasion of Iraq).
Have fun in the army - it works for some people...BTW My son is a Marine |
