When our Drill Sgt picked up a heavy metal desk and tossed it at our squad formation because he was pissed....of course everyone scattered...then got immediately back into formation

Stepping off the bus in San Diego MCRD and seeing my brother's Best friend (who is older than me and the two of them use to torture me growing up) and remembering he was a Drill Instructor in the Marines. He had a grin from ear to ear. It kind of scared me.

He was roomates with one of my junior Drill Instructors and they would come in the middle of the night to get me out of my rack to play games with me and by games I dont mean the fun one's.

The fear and compassion on the Drill Sgt's face as I got into the pit to throw the hand grenade and he asked " You're not gonna drop this are you?"

That just cracked me up...........

The moment we got off the bus from reception and had 6 DI yelling different instructions to us. Mass confusion it was horrible then but funny to think about now.

the one moment i will never forget is the look of all the people i went to basic training with. when we finally got to our destination there were a bunch of girls who looked like they were going to cry. we got yelled at by all these drill sergants and we had to inprocess and it was all time consuming. we didn't get any sleep and had to do PT in the cold.

the best part though in the end was i was able to graduate and proudly serve the military.

Some of the guys in my platoon decided that they were going to order pizza an get away with it; well, they got caught and as punishment, we had to march everywhere we went with our heads down and our platoon guidon was rolled up an when we got to get our haircuts, everyone, except a very mall few (myself included) got to actually get "High N' Tights" instead of "Scaldy Baldies".

It was hilarious, but eventually, we aced the Super Bowl and we got our guidon unrolled and we were ridin high on our graduation.

i never was in the military, but dad always tells me this story about his time at Boot camp. well one day i was looking at his " yearbook" from boot camp and i saw a pic of him with a very mean looking DI standing behind him. He told me that they wanted to take my dads picture and the DI slapped him on the back of the head and said " take your glasses off mother f%cker" my dad says he will never forget that! this was in the late 60's.

I will never forget getting off the bus and having those TI's in my damn face. Oh and when we were up on our first night learning drill at like 1 in the morning! It was fun but I dont miss it.

I was pulled out of formation and taken back to the barracks to keep watch on the CQ who had fallen asleep in the day room. He was not part of our flight.
He was reclined in a chair sleeping soundly.
The drill sergeant told me not to let him move from that spot, then disappeared.
While I waited, the airman woke up. I told him to stay where he was.
He told me he knew he was in big trouble. I said its not that bad, they'll give you another chance.
A voice came over the intercom.
"Airman! That man is a F* up."
"Do you want to be an F* up too?"
"No Sir!", I replied.
"Then you better stop talking to him right now!"
I shut up immediately.
Three TI's returned shortly, disappointed that he had woken up, and they proceeded to give him an *** chewing up one side and down the other.
I later found out that this guy was known as the kissing bandit, he had been washed back (restarted training) because he had been caught kissing some girl in the laundry room.
That's only one of the moments I will never forget.

Pickup from the reception center.
The field first , bellows out with a voice that would rival the P A system in Yankee Stadium....''''IF THERE'S ANYTHING I HATE MORE THAN A MUTHA-----CIVILIAN, IT'S A PIGF----- TRAINEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!'''''''''' I didn't know what I was feeling most, the feeling we were doomed, or just wanting to laugh my head off. But we knew where we stood. There could be no question.

We were out on Bivouac. The whole company is in the front leaning rest w/weapons on top of our hands. I am the last guy in the 1st squad. There is yelling from 3 O clock. I turn my head to see a DI with a steel rake. Several CS grenades are hanging from it. He pulls one and drops it next to me. It rolls under my face, I can't see, I can't get my mask because my hands are messed in the weapons sling or I was just out of it by then. I crawl forward gasping for air. I stop when I see a leg. I puke. It's my CO. His highly shined jump boots are dulled a bit by the remains of my breakfast.

The only thing he said (loudly) was that I should get back in formation.

We were a very gruesome mess for the next 15 minutes. Out of 200 they managed to take out all but a very few that manged to get their masks on.

God Bless our Troops!
All the females, on the night of "confessions" to the TI... they told them that they called our one TI "daddy"... he was a hottie... he looked at that female like she was half retarded and turned red in the face HA!

Having it over with.

My flight to basic arrived at Columbus, GA. late in the day, and we checked into the reception station just after dinner was through. The drill instructor dropped everything he was doing to get us to chow, and the mess Sergeant had the KP.s re-open the mess line, and they were happy to do it! (shocked me a bit) We had a choice of Fried Chicken or Seafood Gumbo! I'm a pretty picky Gumbo fanatic, and it was some of the best Gumbo I've even had! (Needed a darker rue and more fi'le)
Drill Sergeant Hernandez, the kind of Army Sergeant you'd want taking care of your troops.

One evening our platoon was sitting in our classroom when another drill from another platoon came in and said something rude. Our drill said I heard you took your platoon to the PX for 60 tick and flea collars. I still laugh hysterically when I think about it.
