After being released from being a POW, did she suffer severe forms of flashbacks, PTSD, and rape trauma syndrome? Were many Americans angry about this particular lady who volunteered for a rescue mission as a helicopter pilot? I'll bet this fueled debates on whether or not women should even be in the military or be police officers.

I have never heard any reports that she did. I think many people, myself included, were upset by the way she was treated once she was captured. Her Iraqi guards are monsters and at least one should have been arrested for his misconduct, but I do not think that it added to the debate about women in combat. |

She wasn't a pilot and she was ordered not to go because they knew the rescuees were dead before they left. As a flight doc, her job is to take care of a unit, not recover dead bodies. But she violated a direct order and became a hero when a male would have been courts martialed. |
