Horrible idea. The Army already has the lowest standards of all the armed forces. They let convicted felons and other screw ups enlist. Lowering the standards any further would completely destroy its integrity.
Maybe a separate branch, like a convict corps, would be a good option. Send them into the most dangerous battle zones and let the regular army do the day to day stuff. But they would still have to pass psychological tests and stuff. Giving most convicted criminals with life sentences hand to hand combat training and giving them guns would be a horrible idea. |

Why do you think the army would want a bunch of criminals?
Do you really want a bunch of criminal screw ups to be the first line of defense for your rights? |
|

ducky

the Army would NOT want them
I think you underestimate our fine military |
|

LabRat

Make for a pretty sad "unit."
I would NOT want one of those guys protecting my back. |

Bad idea |

I do not agree. They are not the kind of solders I want to see in our Army. Would you want them as police officers? |

Awesome idea. An army full of men without pride, honor or dignity.
Sounds like a plan. |

That's the dumbest idea I ever heard. |

ummm...yea...sure. lets give all the killers guns and send them to the army. |

Who’ll command this unit of deviants and degenerates? Do you really think this unit will follow orders and fight valiantly under fire?
My questions should indicate my position on the matter. |

no, they just need to apply the death penalty more broadly. |

sounds cool,it would be kinda like bad company, basically a company filled with criminals and f*ck ups.
but i dont think putting in the ones who are in for life would be smart, maybe the guys who have a 10 year sentence or less, because they will have an incentive, lifers wouldnt do anything if all they have to look forward to is a prison cell |

I would be very upset. I JUST joined the Army(as a 13foxtrot)as in I said my oath today and ship for bct july 8th. I don't want someone fighting by my side that holds their guns sideways an shoots people to rob them. |

I think you farted all the brain matter out of your head to come up with an idea like that.
People sentenced to Life without parole are sentenced to that for a reason...most likely, they killed someone or gave up Government secrets. |

I think they should all go party at your place for a week and then go back to prison---have a good week ,Princess. |
|

What would be their incentive to fight? Why wouldnt they just escape from the Army people go awal all the time. |

Listen. The Armed Forces should not be a dumping ground for worthless human beings. There are so many good, well-meaning people in the military and they should not be burdened by all of the good-for-nothing idiots who can't make it in the civilian world. In the military if some trouble maker hits you and you hit him back, you both get in trouble. When I was in the Navy it was always the worthless sailors who had been in trouble with the law in the civilian world who would start trouble on the ship. |

No. They are in the joint because they could not follow the rules and laws of society and had problems with authority figures. That makes them poor risks and almost non-trainable. Movie scripts like that for "The Dirty Dozen" are not doctrinal manuals for recruitment and training of armed forces. |

Some of them, not all. You can't let serial rapists, serial murderers and child molesters back on the streets. But I think letting the ones that are in prison for drugs and robbery and things like that serve their time in the military instead of prison is a great idea. It would free up some jail and prison space for the more serious offenders. |

DUMBEST idea EVER!
People who can't follow rules and regulations, in a job that DEMANDS exactly that................. |

Those that are really guilty are probably sicko's who would ever want to serve with them. |

NO thank you.
Why would I want someone that may have raped and murdered a 10 year old child to have the same privileges that someone that would put their life on the line for my freedom?
You do not want to know what I think they should do. |

Invisible Rika

NO.
I don't want to go to war with someone who's in prison for LIFE! I would never trust them, nor would anyone else in the military. |

Why good would a bunch of Psycho paths do the army the minute you gave them an order that they did not like they will turn there weapon's on you. |
|

The Scorpion

LOL, that's the LAST thing the Army would want. It requires character to be in the Army, and that's probably the biggest thing these people lack, besides brainpower and personal discipline. |
|

They could snap and start killing all of our troops |
|

bailie28

i think that they are prisoners without a chance of parole for a reason.and any freedom even being forced to fight a war..would be way to much for them to handle..we should kill them instead |
|

Casey

I think it should be a choice, but that it would be a good alternative to rotting in some cell forever. They could redeem themselves and do good for their country. They would have to pass a psych test and stuff, though. |
