Advice for member of military ( domestic enemies )?

What if a sergeant in the army feels that the current administration is a "domestic enemy of our country". He took an oath to defend our country against all enemies foreign and domestic. Should he seek a discharge?

I would agree. As a member of the military myself I feel that we are run by domestic terrorists. I spoke to my commander about this and will be getting a discharge. I feel it is necessary to be honest with my superiors. There are many who feel the same way.

His logic would be flawed. The current administration..just like those in the past...was legally and dully elected by the American people in accordance with the Constitution. He can choose to leave the Army for personal reasons but the current administration being illegitimate is not one of them..

Absolutely. We don't need losers like him. I served under Presidents I loathed but understood that my obligation was to the ideal of the United States.

The current administration is the legally elected government of the United States. Barring a legal finding to the contrary, they are not a "domestic enemy." Right-wingers need to stop whining and deal.

M.
Absolutely! The current administration includes your Commander in Chief, if you don't support him than you shouldn't be fighting for him.

I'd bring this up with your Chaplain. If you have misgivings that serious about the current administration, you need to consult with someone.

I would get into your statement more, but I don't think it would be a productive conversation. Leaving out the politics, suffice it to say that as near as I can tell, the current administration was duly and legally elected, and that your oath is to uphold and defend the Constitution. That Constitution is what lays out the guidelines for elections and the peaceful transition of power when a new administration is elected. Your duty is to defend whatever government the people of the United States sees fit to vote into office, as long as there is no abrogation of the Constitution in the process.

It's possible you don't agree with my assessment of the legality of the most recent elections. I'm not sure how well your opinion would stand up against the law of the land. Like I said, go talk to a Chaplain.

Personally, I want to have access to guns when the **** hits the fan. And my leadership role within the military means I can influence the actions of our military. I feel I am much more powerful by staying in, and I can make the call when something is dangerous to our society. (I'd become a pseudo-SOF agent.)

You leave... You give up that power.

Redleg/Doug... How can you challenge his position? Our oath was not to protect and defend the administration. You can do that in Iran or the DPRK if you'd like. However, here in the good old US of A we swore to protect and defend an idea. If he feels that the current administration (whomever that might be) is not working to promote those ideals then he has a right/obligation to revolt.

I would have expected you all to understand those FACTS.

I want comment on the Sergeant but to others about duly elected officials.

Remember that Hitler was a proper and duly elected official also.
When he started his BS, the people did not stand up to him and look what happened.
