Air Force question on OTS and opinions on what branch to go into?

Okay I am considering joining the military but i dont really wanna wait until i graduate from college. If i did the reserves could I go active after and go to OTS? I want to do intelligence no matter what branch i go into. What branch of intelligence would anyone out there suggest? i appreciate the input

That is just my opinion, but I am in the Air Force, I am in the Intel Field so please listen carefully. Yes you could go from the reserves to active it would get your TAFMSD started which equals and earlier retirement date (should you choose to be a lifer). Choosing a service is all about the type of experience you want, the Air Force is well known for taking care of its personnel and technical superiority , the Army are the ground pounders who have a very unique culture, the Marine Corps is a more concentrated military experience based on all around discipline, the Navy you are nearly guaranteed to be on a ship at least once in your career, and the Coast Guard is probably the same deal. In the field you are interested in you will find that it is more often than not a Joint Service environment, I literally had every branch of service represented in my 22 person office so it really does not matter if you look at it that way.
Now let's talk money. Enlistment bonuses, do your research. Depending on the type of major you have or what type of officer you want to be there may be a nice chunk of change in it for you and College Loan Repayment Programs especially in the Army recruitment programs. Also keep in mind that the Air Force is currently trying to seperate Officers, we are always downsizing. Good Luck and Ill see you on the other side. |
