If I wanted to join the navy would I have equal chances of getting in if I went to the air force academy or the naval academy? Also is it more more difficult to get admitted to one of them, and am I more likely to be a pilot by going to a certain academy?

Both places are quite tough to get into. One is not harder than the other, they both have relatively similar admission factors. But on paper the AFA accepts more, at a 16% rate, rather than the 14% of the Naval Academy. Yes, if you go the AFA, you will have a pretty good chance of getting a pilot slot. Out of the 950 or so that get commissioned, about 500 get pilot slots. The Naval Academy also commissions about 230 midshipmen for pilot training, roughly 20% of the class. |
