Airborne Artillery in the Army? Is it possible?

I'm scheduled to ship off to Army Basic June 2nd as 13D Field Artillery. My life's dream is to be part of the 82nd Airborne, and I want to volunteer for Airborne School while in Basic or AIT since I couldn't get it in my contract.
But I heard that they don't let you go Airborne if you're in the Artillery field. Is this true? And I CAN volunteer for Airborne School while in Basic or AIT right?

No, seriously though.... There's airborne soldiers everywhere, doing every job you can think of. Anything's possible, if you get a NCO who's on the ball and can get you into a slot for jump school. |
