I think it would be cool to join for 4 years, but some people act like Im crazy because everyone else my age is having babies. I would love to have a baby right now too, but we're always broke...we have enough to go out once in a while, but not tons, and Im not done with college. yet. The air force sounds interesting to me, and I see first hand what it's like. I need a change of pace, and I feel like I haven't accomplished anything in my life yet and I'm going on 22 years old!

My husband is AD USAF and I just joined. It's something I've always wanted, so I just went for it finally! The Air Force tries to keep you together. We known A LOT of military married to military couples and only know of one that were stationed at two separate bases. The only reason they got separated was because they got married in Tech School and already had their base assignments selected.
But no, you're not crazy at all.

Im 18 years old and I leave for basic training in July; I dnt think thats a bad idea at all. Your college could be paid for and you could save money up to suppourt a child in the future. |

It is a great idea especially if your husband is in the Air Force. The military does its best to see that married couples are stationed together. If you can juggle career with family life go for it. A girl I lived next door joined the Air Force got married to Air Force officer and now is retired. She retired as an E-8 with 22 years of service and he retired as a Captain. |

Sounds like you guys need to learn how to budget. Seriously though, have you considered getting a civilian job to help with the bills, even a part time job.
The AF will provide you with a paycheck and yes it can help you with your college education, either with TA or the GI Bill. But as someone mentioned you got to be ready to spend those four years in the AF away from your husband. Joint spouse assignments are at the benefit of the AF, not the couple.
Depending on your ASVAB score and what job you get, you may end up loving your time in or hating it. But if this is really what you want to do and both you and your husband have taken everything into consideration then I would not say your stupid. Good luck. |

I think it sounds perfect for you,actually.Based on your lifestyle and financial struggles,it sounds like the extra income will help, if you don't mind being stationed in a different place than your husband |
