I'm a liberal democrat and it surprises the hell out me that so many want to pull out now, don't get me wrong i'm no hawk. I was against the war from the beginning.
We invaded on false premises and let emotion affect our decision making on the highest level.
The fact is we've created a power vacuum and if we pull out now there will be a genocide in iraq, the democratic government will NOT last long, and hundreds of thousands of people will be massacred, by whichever group manages to take control.
and it will be all our fault.
The conservatives may deserve some of the blame for the tens of thousands that have died already, but if we pull out now, us liberals will deserve ALL of the blame for the genocide that will happen afterwards. |

Iraq is moving in the right direction. contrary to some beliefs. Since you only are told the bad things, you have nothing else to base an intellegent decision on. I blame the Miserable Media for that.

It would do nothing constructive. Shouldn't American society leave the Generaling to the Generals? Having been on the ground over there and hearing the Iraqi people thanking me every day for being there, and telling me that we can never leave because we are helping them so much tells me that the average American citizen doesn't have the slightest clue as to what is happening there. How could they know with the media playing everything up the way they are. There is no easy solution. Look at Bosnia. We are still there and it has been like 15 years. Only now has their chaos turned into a structured society. This will take time, I know it's hard to hear with the instant gratification generation (which I'm part of). The only way to stop the fighting in a country like this is to teach the youngest generation that killing each other isn't the most productive thing to do. They will get it, but Saddam really did a number on them. They have to learn to think for themselves, which they haven't done in over 30 years. One of the only things Iraq as a country has right now is time to heal itself. It can't happen overnight. |

Nope, we need to stay in Iraq and fight. Americans are not loosers we are strong and we will fight anything in order to protect our freedom!! We got away from Britain, faught against slavery, protected our soil from the enemy why would we want to give up now? Nothing Iraq can do is going to back us off. Iraqis can threaten us in many ways, but we will never back off. We are a strong military, nothing will ever tear us down. We have the hand of the true God in our hearts. So this should answer your question. |

Of course it won't solve anything. It is so terrible that congress is trying to micro manage this war. This is not just about why we went into Iraq, this is a war of ideals. I'm sorry that this is not politically correct, but this war is intolerant Islam trying to make the rest of the world go back into the stone ages, vs. western civilization. It is dark VS light, and I'm not even religious, but it is the truth. We will be fighting this war, in Iraq or not until the terrorist sponsoring Islamic Ayatollahs, stop trying to create an Islamic theocracy over the world. I think people on the left need to wake up and see the world for what it is, and also realize that engaging these people in diplomatic dialog will only embolden them. |

nope, but it will be much better for us..ever since we went to iraq, theres been more poverty, taxes went up, and everyone knows gas prices went up....if we get outta this useless war we can help our own country...our retarded government is unaware that alot of people in america are suffering from poverty, sickness..and im in highschool, does anyone know of the amount of gangs forming? kids need more discipline but noone seems to care...kids can walk in and out of school with a knife without being stopped..america isnt as perfect as everyone saw it once. we need to pull out of iraq and help OURSELVES |

Yes, it will allow the democratically elected Iraqi Govt.(Shiites & Kurds) who outnumber the Sunni insurgents 7 to 1 (& don't have follow any US rules of egagement) to wipe out the insurgents & Al Qaeda terrorists & end the war as quickly as possible. Something that could have been done 2 years ago but Bush doesn't want Muslims to win the war in Iraq he only wants the US military win it & hey can't. Only Muslims know how to effectively kill other Muslims. |

Pulling our troops out now is the ONLY solution - this war is not "winable" like so many conservatives and wishful thinkers are saying. This war was a mistake from the very beginning and could not be "won" at any cost, no matter what Bush and his cronies have been saying all along. It was founded on lies and deception and every Iraqi citizen knows we are there to steal their oil and that of their neighbors. The Iraqi "militants" are not going to allow their only natural resourse and main export product to be stollen by a foreign invader whom has no regard for their culture, religious beliefs, or any other ethical perspectives.
Pulling our troops out now will solve everything, for as long as foreign troops remain the killing and chaos will continue, plain and simple. |
