Any Fort Carson, Co info?

I have asked this question before but I want as many opinions as I can get. We are PCS-ing to fort carson. Has anyone had bad or good experiences at this post? How do they treat their soldiers and their families? Any info would be appreciated. Thank you in advance

You will love it here. This is truly God's country.. The people in Colorado Springs have a great relation with our military here.. We honor each of you and thank you for your service.. You will find a lot of retired military here representing every rank and branch .. Welcome to the family !! |

We've never been stationed in Carson, however, a good friend of mine PCS-d there 2 yrs ago, and they love it! If your a big fan of mother nature, then this is a dream move. When they first moved, they used the MWR- on post and the Outdoor Rec to find fun things to do. Of course, they started venturing out on there own.
She and her family learned to snow board. In the summer, her kids went to some really great summer camps. Along with that, there is:Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, camping, fishing, hiking & biking trails with to die for views, Bear Creek, climbing, rustic cabins available for rent, skiing,so much more outdoor activities that I could go on about. If you enjoy photography, you'll have some pretty amazing pictures. Oh,, and all that in clean fresh air. Enjoy!

Never stationed there, but I guess I can add a couple things to make you feel better. I went to college in that state and have been in that area many times.
Colorado has a very nice climate. As another person said it does get windy, but the summer is nice. CO has about 300 days of sun each year. It is very scenic around there. If you enjoy the outdoors, it will be a nice place for you. |

So far so good. Only thing I hate is Balfour Beatty with their ongoing attitude problem and the amount of wind here. I feel like I can't go outside without being blown away. Hopefully it will calm down in the summer. |

It's in the rockies, snow, mountains, beautiful landscapes, winter sports all around you!
Colorado Springs is nice, The AF Academy is there too!
USAA is a big employer in the area!
Denver is about 1 hour away - north! |

Ft carson was a great post, was treated well in my unit, lots of activities throughout the year for soldiers and family, local biz work with Military , like the gym I belong to give hefty discounts (westside Fitness ) and is close to the housing side of post, lots of shopping on and off post. Loved it there |
