You, sir, are100% correct. I have been a Marine for 17 years, 11 as an officer. I served in the first gulf war, Somalia, and Bosnia. I also have a tour in Iraq under my belt. Not only should Congress let us determine the rules of engagement, since we, not Congress, are there, they also need to listen to the generals who are telling them the same thing. This is by far the worst military action I have been involved in and it's all because of defeatists in Congress, political correctness, and an uncontrolled media. Freedom of the press does not excuse the media from responsible reporting. Not only is this hurting Marines, it's also hurting sailors, soldiers, and airmen. |

Yes I completely agree. You can not have political correctness in the military. And not just get out of the Marines way, my friend, I have a son in the Army and a daughter in the Air Force, security forces who has served two duties in Iraq and has the combat medals to prove it. |

not just the marines, lol. There are so many restrictions on the soldiers they can't do their job. The insurgents have figured out, all they have to do is claim they have been abused (with no evidence) and that stops the entire troop from doing their job until that situation is cleared up. So you are removing 50 or so soldiers from the street for "investigations" because some insurgent got his feelings hurt.
Its war time, not tea time. I'm sure if they invaded us, they wouldn't be nearly that polite. If you can't stand behind the troops, stand in front of the tanks. |

There is a military solution to Iraq, but it is not politically acceptable.
(Hint: Do you think the Gestapo would have any problems in Iraq?)
So, if we are not willing to fully unleash the might of U.S. forces (and we aren't) it's best to just pull out. |

Look at the media today. What would be their reaction to WW II? Of course the media messes up the army. Let them do their job and stay out of this. |

I believe that the war in iraq is wrong. However this is not the troops fault. BLAME BUSH. besides which you can't just turn politics, the thing which governs wars on and off. be realisitc. history an what is happening now in Iraq tells us that change can't come from outside a country, but only within. |

I agree with this. Get the media out of there and let us do our job! No more PC war!! |
|

Heads up!
 |
The problem is the enemy there is not wearing a uniform , you can not effectively fight an unseen enemy. And by the way if there was not politics involved there would not be a deployment to Iraq and therefore no combat there. |

keep the politics out of the combat its too late to second guess yourself now, if we pull out of iraq before the country and goverment can stand on its own it would be a total disaster whats wrong with washington do they want this to fail it seems that way. rome was not built in a day thats the old saying. these senators and congressmen have no patience what so ever, more troops will help out they never kept enough there in the first place never do anything half way .we should have learned that lesson on vietnam. go in there for a real change in the long run it will be in our best interests |

I'll agree to that and let the US Military take care of other things in the area later!! Forbid
the News Media of any country from reporting
military movements or anything. Keep the civillians out of the situation!!! |

u may defeat the terrorist but not the beliefs of the people who want to make iraq an islamic republic like iran
america could do that if they left soon after toppling saddam and not dismantling the army but they did what was a big no no and now are paying the price in lives and in reputation |

I agree with you in a way. I say get the politicians out of the way and let the generals do thier jobs as was done up until Nam. Most of those politicians were in law school or hiding somewhere else during the past several wars and none of them know a d**m thing about fighting a war. Look at Bush and Cheney. Both were awol when they should have been on duty. Also 99% of congress and the senate were awol. |

Iraq will never be "finished." This problem is too big for America to "fix." I say pull out and let Iraq and all the rest of the countries in that area duke it out by themselves. This is more like a civil war. We can't "fix" that. Also, there are other armed forces over there than just the Marines. Go Army!! |

Ya know what the problem is?!?
We go in there and "take control" and then we either have to stay and babysit or we get out and everything goes back to normal.
If we are going to go as far as we did, we need to go over there, completely remodel, build the economy, put up malls, McDonalds, Starbucks, Barnes & Noble and Wal-Mart and TAKE IT OVER AS AN AMERICAN TERRITORY WITH OUR LAWS AND AUTHORITIES.
If we are NOT going to do that...why did we occupy the country?!
We are runing our economy even more by doing all of this and then stopping short of taking it over. |

Sorry bro, but this just wouldn't be the solution. We'd basically commit genocide if no one was in our way. Genocide never solved anything, or did it? |

so sorry, but you are wrong.
there is no military solution to iraq - the best thing we could do is to move all of the marines to afganistan, where the war on terror is actually being fought and leave iraq to the politicians... |
