I worked at the Bristol Aeroplane Company back in the 50's; whenever a Vulcan took off, there was a mad rush to the office windows to watch her; the roar of the Olympus (?) engines was unmistakable.
Saw a green, double-decker old Bristol bus today when I was driving through Bewdley, Worcs - destination "Patchway Shadow Factory"; obviously taking the pretty route!
I misted-up a bit!! |

Truely a powerful plane. I remember in Gibraltar they used to fly by trios round the rock and the noise was enough for anyone to have goose pimples. You should have seen the faces of the tourists. A British Pride. They should return to service |

Yes...a beautiful shape....i think she holds the record for the longest bombing run when one took out the runway in the Falklands...of course with in flight refueling. |

Blackpool Airport had one for sale a while ago, it was bought by a pub owner in Manchester but he found out it wouldn't fit, no idea where it is now, maybe on E-bay. |

Yeah what a peice of engineering, flew all the way to Port Stanley and still managed to bomb the field next to the runway. Check the satellite pictures.
The RN Harriers would have done much better and been a lot cheaper. |
